“Quite expensive Overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Rooms were quite small with an awkward opening bathroom door. Difficult to control the temperature of the room, too hot or too cold. Toiletries in the room were basic and things like shower caps and nail files not provided. Breakfast was expensive for what it was and the service was slow. On the positive side, the public areas were very smart with very nice furnishings and decor, reception staff were very pleasant although not always obvious as they seemed to have several roles. Overall a pleasant stay.

I apologise that your experience wasn't as we intended. We don't like to overload the bathroom with toiletries and have a full selection available at reception. Perhaps we should make our guests more aware of this. I'm also sorry you found our breakfast expensive, this is not feedback that is familiar to us. Our breakfast is freshly cooked to order and the delivery time can reflect this. Delighted though that you found the team friendly and enjoyed the hotel overall, we hope to see you again soon

This is our fourth stay and each has been excellent. Ideally located and very relaxing. Staff are very helpful and are always to hand. Don't expect a modern hotel with all the facilities because it is not. It is a Victorian house converted to a hotel which provides a relaxing and peaceful environment. Not ideally suited for visitors with young children i would have thought - they might prefer a busier hotel with more facilities.

A nice change from the normal hotel offerings and convenient to the centre of Manchester. A very spacious and well run hotel with personal touches and high quality throughout. If I was looking for a criticism it would be in the quality of the towels that are not light and fluffy but laden with dry cleaning solvent odours..otherwise the stay would have been perfection. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay! I'll look into the issue of the towels and am sure you'll find fluffy ones next time

After falling in love with the venue, myself and my fiancé decided that we could not have our wedding anywhere else. Such special attention was given to make sure our big day was everything we wanted and more. The staff, in particular, Jess, Dan and Edie, could not do enough for us. As well as everything about the hotel being immaculate, we felt as though our wedding was given such thought by the staff, that it was made perfect. More perfect than we ever thought it could be!
if you are thinking about having your wedding here, you will not be disappointed.Five stars does not do justice to the place. The happiest day of our lives was spent in the most beautiful surroundings! Thank you very much everyone at Didsbury house!

This hotel is amazing, we simply cannot fault it. We stayed in the opus loft suite which was gorgeous. We walked in to a large living area complete with tv, dab and iPod docking station and lots of lovely chairs including chaise lounge. There was even a chess/draughts set incase you had time to spare. Then the bedroom, the bed was huuuuuggggeee and so comfy. Plenty of storage space too in the wardrobe. Then the best part, the bathroom. This had 2 beautiful cast iron roll top baths next to each other and a spacious separate monsoon shower which was great in the morning to properly wake you up. We were also treated to snuggly spa like dressing gowns and lots of temple spa goodies. :-)

The service was spectacular, you couldn't want for anything. The receptionist/waitress even went to the trouble of ringing round all the local restaurants for us to book us in as we didn't know the area so went on her advice, which was a lovely restaurant in didsbury. There are 2 separate living rooms with stunning furniture and they have really decorated well to show off the period features. Then the bar which is open 24 hours a day, has a vast menu of every drink you can think of. You can also get bar snacks and tapas to go, which we did not as we were eating out that night. There is also a patio area outside which would be gorgeous to sit out in on a summers day.

We had breakfast on the Saturday which was great, you have the continental options whilst you wait for your main cooked breakfast to arrive. I chose the eggs benedict with Palma ham which was delicious and really filling-really set me up for the day and my partner had the Irish breakfast which was also ginormous.

It's also only a short 15 mins drive to Manchester too for shopping and partying.

All in all this hotel is beautiful and a far better choice than any of the usual chain hotels, plus a similar price to them.

I stayed here last week for the first time. I had an idea what to expect because i had stayed at its sister hotel earlier in the month and that was great. My collegue and I had beautiful rooms with every creature comfort you could ask for. On the long trip home we both discussed what aspect could have been better. We concluded that there wasnt any and that any other hotel however good would come as a disappointment.

Room Tip: Room 50!!!!!

We stayed at the Didsbury House Hotel and once again the stay and the staff exceeded our expectations.

Our bedroom (#43) overlooked the garden and was really well appointed with a roll top bath at the foot of the large and comfortable bed. There were also some really nice little touches for guests. My wife even commented on the quality of the hair dryer!

The staff were particularly helpful and Charlotte and Hannah were really attentive and demonstrated great guest service skills.

The breakfast was particularly worthy of note with a great choice and variety on the menu and a well presented buffet. In discussion with other guests over breakfast it became apparent that there is a group of frequent guests which in itself must be a recommendation to others.

The next time we have occasion to visit Manchester and need to stay overnight we will definitely spend it at the DHH. It's one of the best small eclectic hotels we’ve stayed in over recent years and we recommend you give it a go.

Room Tip: Ask for room # 43 if you want a large spacious room with a really opulent feel and great attention t...
