“5 star experience !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

The location is great. Across the street is a shopping center. The apartment was clean and spacious. They also provide things you could borrow such speakers, kitchen utensils and etc..
The staffs were very friendly and nice. The gay staff was nice enough to offer to keep our bags for a few hours so we could spend time in Manchester because we arrived earlier than the check in time. Our stay was all worth it!! Highly recommended..

Modern apartments in a great location just opposite the Arndale Centre so right on doorstep of shops bars and restaurants.

Friendly and helpful staff with easy check in and check out and even offered to keep our bags for a few hours so we could spend a little more time in Manchester after checking out.

Apartments had full kitchen facilities you need to make meals, iron, hairdryer, large TV.

Only slight negative was windows not opening much so was very warm and bathroom could have done with a bit of TLC. Also states two bedroom which is true but one is only a single bed so be careful if you book and expect two doubles.

Overall a great stay at a great price.

Stayed here for 2 nights, beginning of July and I have to say that it far exceded my expectations. Previously, I stayed in hotels but will definitely be considering aparthotels after this stay. Check in was quick and the reception team was really lovely throughout- Natahsa and Jean in particular. I would recommend that the card you paid with is also brought along, as i needed to hold a £100 desposit for check in, other than that i had no issues and will definitely be back.

Just carrying on from Holly G's review - I am the aforementioned hen. I had been looking forward to this weekend away for months - we booked an executive room so thought we may get a bit of extra luxury. What we got was a foul smelling, overly hot apartment with hidden annoyances in almost every room. I did not expect to find a dirty trainer sock poking out from the top of the radiator in my bedroom, or a winter quilt in the height of summer - nor did i expect the shower head to fly off and spray a flurry of water across the room. What i certainly did not expect was the disgusting way I was spoken to by the operations manager (Victoria) who seemed to have labelled us as some sort of trouble makers because we were in fancy dress. Obviously Holly has explained the issues with the bed - we would not have expected that from a 5* hotel, and certainly didn't expect to be threatened with having to leave the hotel as 'she did not have any other solutions to the problem'. I have to say that the staff in the hotel were very pleasant and were as helpful as they could be given that they were being dictated to by Victoria and her genuine disinterest in ensuring that we had a nice, stress free stay. The issues themselves could be forgiven, the way Victoria spoke to us could not - It was rude and condescending and her tone of voice sounded like that of an irritated school teacher speaking to naughty school children..not to adults who had a perfectly acceptable complaint.

Needless to say, we will not be going back.

I think this is excellent hotel with good comfort levels in a good location. A few details could improve it. I would definitely stay again but only at the 30% off offer I got it at as there were a few niggles.

We asked for a 4th floor apartment too be out of the noise, ended up on the back with view of a dirty courtyard, not a criticism. Apartment ed very comfortable and had high quality kitchen. Laundry and dryers are available on the bottom floor not in the rooms. A good fan afoot oven an d microwave was available with coffee machine. When we booked breakfast was invalid with the premium room but apparently this has been suspended aswell as the Elemis bathroom pack. Breakfast was sold to us when we mentioned it. The website should be updated.

We were disturbed by some inconsiderate boys on the Saturday night but the staff sorted it for us very promptly.

We thought the apartment was comfy and an excellent location.

Parking is.best at the NCP Arndale opposite and not at the recommend "negotiated" print works carpark. NCP cost us £27 for just over 4 days parking which would have been £13.50 a day. We were expecting a bill of£60 but we're presently surprised .

The bathroom was excellent and the bedroom quite spacious, although the bed was only a double. We hired a cot for our 6 month old which we had to pad out because the mattress was so hard he couldn't sleep on it.

Rooms are not serviced on a daily basis as you would expect, we were here for 3 nights and were not serviced. There is no air conditioning but you can ask for a fan from reception.

Huge tv and lock shops man you can sort out tea for family quickly and cheaply.

Staff were excellent, polite and attentive!

Room Tip: Call reception quickly about noisy guests.

A group of us stayed here between 5th-7th July; I am from the hen party Leefie1978 talks of. It initially took us a long time to find the entrance and we felt it could have been signposted or directions could have helped on booking. However, the receptionist who we dealt with was very helpful when it came to directing one of our friends to the nearby car park, so this made up for our troubles.

Our check in was smooth and hassle free with Natasha. On entering the room (312) the smell which hit us was foisty and of urine. We decided this could have been as this day was exceptionally warm and so opened the windows (Not many windows throughout the apartments and only open a little bit so still very warm). Our biggest issue came from the sofa/pull out bed. The mattress which was there was utterly disgusting. It was stained so much the main colour was now yellow. There were hairs across the mattress and we then found out where the smell of urine was coming from.

We rang reception and Natasha asked the maid to swap the mattress for us. There must have been crossed wires here as we did not receive another mattress in return. When I say mattress the thickness was only a few inches. We rang reception again to enquire what was happening and Natasha took one of our party upstairs to view another room. The sofa/pull out bed here was in a similar state, so we did not accept the swap which was offered. Considering Natasha informed us she would not sleep on the mattress herself, this confirmed to us we weren't making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Natasha then got her Operations Manager to call us, Victoria. Unfortunately, Victoria was one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to (I work in customer services in a well known supermarket so I have endured many experiences). Victoria ran through what had happened and I agreed and corrected where was necessary. I reiterated how filthy both mattresses where and asked what could now be offered. Victoria said as we had refused a second mattress and there was nothing else she could offer. I explained how I did expect more from 5* apartments and it wasn't just the mattress which was filthy. The bed frame itself was also stained where bodily fluids had penetrated completely through the mattress.

Victoria said the bed frame could be sprayed with air freshener and a mattress protector would be used. I said how I wasn't particularly happy as I did not feel that would ensure the mattress and bed frame would be hygienic and clean enough. Victoria said there was noting else which could be done and said if we didn't like it then we could leave. I felt so exacerbated at this point as I did not feel as though she was making any effort to help whatsoever.

The member of our party who had been to see the second mattress then spoke to Victoria. She reiterated how disgusting both mattresses were and how this was unacceptable. Not only that neither mattresses were clean but how it had not been noticed. Victoria again said how we could leave and go elsewhere as she was not going to help us any further. We then tried to suggest ways in which this could be recitified; for example were two smaller rooms available then a sofa/pull out bed would not be needed. Victoria very blunted asked if we were going to pay for a second room. Her opinion was we had enough acceptable sleeping places in our room and it was us who were not happy.

There was no budging from Victoria and it now seemed as though she was purposefully being obtrusive. We asked if there were other mattresses which could be used. We even suggested that we would sleep on a mattress on the floor to help resolve the situation. Victoria said the hotel was fully booked and there was not one single mattress which was available. (This begs the question of the second mattress which we saw... Would they have just swapped ours to see if another party noticed?)

Now it was the hen's turn to talk to Victoria. Our hen at this point was calm and respectful. She said how so far our weekend did not have a very good beginning and that we just wanted it to be resolved. It now felt as though Victoria did not want us in the hotel. It seemed as they had offered a plan b, which was still not acceptable, they would not help us any further than that. Victoria enquired if we were the army hen party who had checked in (3 rooms in total with 14 ladies). We confirmed we were. This next aspect was without doubt more disgusting than the mattresses. Victoria replied; "The army hen party? Well I would have turned you lot away at the door".

The hen is marrying my Brother who is armed forces and my partner is also armed forces yet we were branded as not good enough for this hotel. I am still in shock and cannot believe Victoria felt it was acceptable to say something of that magnitude. At this point the call was ended. It was clear Victoria was now not helping us because of the way we were dressed.

Natasha was our knight in shining armour at this point and a clean mattress now appeared with mattress protectors - considering there were none available when talking to Victoria.

We experienced a few other issues including a shower head which fell off and a blocked toilet - all on day one. On both situations we had to ask for a colleague to come and look at the issue as it was suggested they would come and take pictures which could be up to an hour and longer. 5 ladies on a hen do who have travelled for over 3 hours - we need ablutions!

Unfortunately, I would never stay at this hotel again or one within the chain. This is only down to one person and every other employee we came across was more than polite and helpful towards us.

I hope other people have a more enjoyable stay then we did and do not have to deal with Victoria.

I stayed with 4 friends for a quick overnight trip for a girly day/night out. We had worked out where it was and had been shopping and for a couple of drinks before the 3pm check in time. When we arrived we were told that bedding would be in the wardrobes for the "sofa bed". There was no bedding in the room so we explained to the receptionist. It took a while to arrive as it appears a hen party were having major issues with their rooms too. When we pulled the sofa bed out it wouldn't balance properly as there were parts buckled. The receptionist came straight up to the room and did get the bed balanced but the two friends who were to sleep on it ended up pulling the wafer thin mattress to try and sleep on the floor. They didn't get any sleep at all because the mattress was more like a "topper" than a proper sofa bed mattress. The extractors in the bathroom and kitchen were filthy and thick with dust which we told reception about upon checkout. The shower head was so heavy it wouldn't hold up to stand under it and the water pressure was not good.

We were in Room 205 which was a front facing apartment, bearing in mind it was one of the hottest days of the year we needed the windows opened all night to get air we did get 2 fans from reception. The biggest problem was the traffic noise in particular the trams (they don't stop running until around 2am and had started again by 6am) If we had been staying any longer than one night we would have asked to move.

I can't fault the reception staff, they were lovely and professional. They were apologetic for errors and problems and said they would forward the above feedback to the management.

I personally think the 2 bedroom apartments should only sleep 3 maximum, there isn't enough sofa space for more and while we had a good night as a group of friends it didn't have the wow factor we had hoped for at the prices charged.

Room Tip: Ask to have a room away from the tram lines
