This is the email I sent to Wowcher after visiting this restaurant:
I wish to make a complaint regarding my recent visit to the Han Dynasty.
I realise that the events that occurred that the restaurant are in no way the fault of Wowcher and are totally beyond your control.
However, you offer deals for this company and therefore i feel you need to be made aware of what occurred.
On 14th March 2013 I was visiting Manchester for the day and saw your website was offering a deal for Han Dynasty in Manchester. I purchased the deal and called the restaurant at 2.30pm. I advised them of the deal I had purchased and that i would not be able to print the offer but i had my code available on my phone. I was advised that this would be fine and to just show the code when i arrived that evening.
I arrived at the restaurant at 5.35pm. I was greeted by a female member of staff to whom i immediately showed the wowcher code and offer on my phone. The staff member looked at the phone like she had never seen a mobile phone before in her life and clearly had no idea what the offer was.
We were seated at a table in the restaurant and the waitress disappeared. At 5.50pm she returned with two 'set meal' menus. I advised her that we were not here for the set meals and we were here with our Wowcher offer. I showed the offer to the waitress again. She said she didn't understand what it was and that she would have to ring the manager. She returned with a mobile phone and asked to see the voucher again on my phone. I showed it to her and she spoke to the manager. She then passed me the phone and i had to speak to the manager and read out the offer to him. He advised me that this was fine and told us he would come to the restaurant in 10 minutes to 'sort everything out'. I advised him we had tickets to a show and had to leave at 7.15pm so asked him to be quick. We were then asked by the waitress if we wanted to order a drink so we asked for the drinks we had paid for as part of the offer (2 beers).
At 6.10pm the manager arrived and again asked to see the Wowcher offer. I showed it to him and he clearly had no idea what the offer was or had even seen it before. The manager then brought over 2 main menus for the restaurant and advised us to just order what we wanted (which we had no problem with).
At 6.15 our orders were taken.
At 6.25 the original waitress came over and asked to see the voucher again to get the Wowcher code. She also advise us that we would have to pay for the drink we each had. I advised her there was no way i was paying for a drink that came as part of the deal.
The manager then came over again and asked to look at the voucher again. I showed him where it clearly shows on the first line of the offer that we get a drink each. The manager then said we didnt have to pay for the drink but that :
"it's difficult when you don't print off the voucher offer"
At 6.30 one of the starters we ordered arrived. Served on cold plates the food was luke warm and not hot.
At 6.45 the second starter then arrived served separately for some reason.
At 7.00pm the 'sizzling beef' arrived again served on cold plates and was at best luke warm. It was not in any way 'sizzling'. We had ordered one rice dish and one noodle dish with the main meal. The rice arrived with the beef. The noodles arrived half way through eating the main course.
You can imagine at this point with luke warm tasteless food and the worst service/dining experience i had ever had in my life i was left extremely disappointed.
I couldn't bring myself to speak to the manager again as I would have said/done something i would have later regretted. I also presumed I would have to show him the Wowcher offer again and i would struggle to do so as my phone battery at this point was about to run out!!
At no point did the manager or any member of staff apologise for the confusion or the service.
This is without doubt the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It is the worst, most unprofessional service i have ever experienced.
I often purchase offers through Groupon, Dealmonster etc without any problems and unfortunately my first experience of a deal through wowcher was terrible.
I will certainly think twice before purchasing anything via your website again.
Please stop promoting this company. They clearly have no idea what they are doing or what they are offering in conjunction with you!!
