“Amazing Thai & Vietnamese takeaway in South Manchester”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We regularly use Dalat in Northenden, Manchester, for a takeaway treat. The food is very reasonably priced at around £6 - £7 per dish, and having spent time in Thailand mixing it with the locals, I would say it's the closest thing to authentic Thai cuisine I've come across in the UK.

We have had on occasion minor mix-ups with the orders, but these are usually just things like bringing a Coca-Cola rather than a Diet Cola. The food is alway warm, fresh and in good sized portions - and we are always amazed when we order the soup-style dishes at how they can be unpacked to look exactly like they would in a restaurant.

We haven't been to the actual restaurant, but I do travel past it everyday, and it looks a simple affair - classically Thai some might say.

“Waste of money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012 via mobile

Got a take away delivered. Asked for a vegetable Thai curry and got beancurd. Asked for chicken satay and got 1/2 cooked chicken! Husband got a prawn Thai curry which just spelt do off!!! All went straight in the bin. Rang to complain- no money back just the reassurance that next time we ordered they would be sure to get it right.. Needless to say we won't order again!

“Excellent food and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

Been on numerous occassions and have throughly enjoyed every meal. Very good vegetarian selection. I always have a starter and mains as the desserts don't really do it for me. Environment not plush but the place is clean and tidy and staff are always friendly and helpful. Situated in an area not really known for good cuisine but really worth a try especially if you are staying at one of the two local hotels that do stop-overs for Manchester Airport. Take away service very busy. They do a really reasonable lunch-time menu as well.

“Delicious food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

With the risk of sounding snobby, I never considered eating at this restaurant because of it's unappealing decor, but as I parked outside numerous times to run into the local shop the smell of the food couldn't be resisted.

My family and I were not disappointed and have returned on a number of occasions. Yes, the decor is tacky and dated and because of this the restaurant is not the full package but the food is simply delightful. Huge range of dishes that use fresh ingredients, are packed full of flavour and are reasonably priced. The service is also faultless, with the waitress being friendly and welcoming.

I would say to anyone don't be put off by the outdated, amateur look and just give the delicious Thai food a try.

“great good at good prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

lovely place in northenden - i wish there were more places like these and less chains. we always get good food here and the prices are reasonable. faves are spicy fried rice and their spicy noodles. the only drawback is that if you don't live in northenden or nearby, it is quite a trek - but the food is well worth it! service is friendly, with a smile : )
