“You get what you pay for...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2015

Considering this place was about half the price of nearby hotels, I wasn't expecting to be in the lap of luxury. Starting with the good, the location just walking distance from Piccadilly station is very convenient. The security on the building is a bit elaborate with door codes to get in the front door, codes to get from the lobby to the elevators and codes to get into the garage. The apartment itself is bigger than a standard hotel room with a separate bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining area plus a private bathroom.

The bad, it could have been a little cleaner. It wasn't filthy but it definitely didn't seem like it was that well maintained. The dishwasher in the kitchen didn't work, there were several light bulbs burned out throughout the apartment and every item in the kitchen was rigged up to a switch none of which were labeled so it was trial and error to figure out which one controlled the oven, which controlled the refrigerator, etc. Mismatched numbers of glasses, plates and tableware made for a funky experience dining in the room.

If you just need a place to crash, this isn't a horrible place and I've stayed in much worse but if you're looking for a full hotel experience, this isn't for you.

One final note, our room overlooked the canal which at odd hours of the night a lot of men seemed to be hanging around. A local friend who stopped by confirmed my suspicion, the walkway under the bridge over the canal is one of the oldest gay cruising areas in town. The men seem to keep their activities out of sight under the bridge.

Stayed one night, customer service was great when there was no hot water in our apartment we were quickly moved to another! However the apartments are not well maintained and were over priced for what they were. Only positive was the location close to the station. Would not recommend staying here.

For a 4* accommodation I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. I can tell that the property once was well kitted out; however that was some time ago. Sadly the property is looking tired and care is not being taken. If anything corners are being cut. The light bulbs were all different throughout. The floor slacks were loose. The kitchen surfaces were stained and dirty when we arrived. Also the impressive looking shower wasn't fully functional. The kettle leaked and the toaster was clearly the cheapest one they could find. The bedding was clean but subpar. The pillows were flat and small and the duvet cover was unable to be closed. Also the Wi-Fi was next to useless unless you were on at 4am

Stayed there for one night. Location was excellent but the property was not well maintained.

There were stains in the carpet everywhere inside the room and the hallway. Kitchen facility was dated and the Jacuzzi was out of services.

Will try Premier Inn or the Place Aparthotel next time.

I stayed in a three bedroom apartment for two nights and it worked out £60 per couple per night, which is pretty cheap for Manchester. The price and the central location mean it's really good if you're going to be out enjoying yourself most of the time.

The apartment was clean, the decor was tired (peeling paint, stained carpet, bathroom tiles) but nothing that would put us off based on how cheap the apartment actually was. There was a TV, wifi, fridge and heaters that could be switched on. Extra blankets and pillows in the rooms wouldn't have gone amiss in February. The website didn't make it that clear but there was a car park too.

We could get into the room an hour early without giving notice, which was super helpful, all the instructions worked and we were off out and about. Would use again!

Stayed here for two nights with my boyfriend and another couple. It was a perfect location - great for the northern quarter and main shopping area and also a minute away from Piccadilly tram station. The apartment was very well furnished and modern - the shower in the ensuite was amazing! I found it to be clean with just a little bit of wear and tear but that's to be expected. Rooms were spacious and beds comfy, and price was very reasonable in comparison to similar places. Only fault was that reception is rarely ever manned but the number provided does get answered eventually and with helpful responses. Would definitely stay here again.

TIP - entrance to car park VERY NARROW - large cars/ nervous drivers beware!

I had little option but to stay again twice more at Max, even though I vowed I wouldnt. Thought I'd give them another chance. However, it didn't improve... When I left last Tuesday, I had to leave a note of all the issues... The shower hose was loose from the head, squirting water everywhere and wouldn't stay in the holder. The radiator in the bedroom ticked like a time bomb, so I had to turn it off and subsequently froze all night. The oven was so passed its useable date, it wouldn't heat and the toaster didn't work. I would've expected an email or something to apologise, considering I left a note AND told the miserable girl on reception that I left it there!

I tried using the car park on my last visit. Unless you drive a Mini, don't bother. It's exceptionally tight to spiral down and there's a low wall on the right as you get to the bottom, and now I have a gouged alloy wheel...

The hallways do look like a doss house, it's dirty, tired and dark (not all the lights work and I was walking in the dark corridor).

I didn't just give it one more chance, I gave it two and it continuously got worse.
