We arrived at the Lowry for a one night stay to be met in the car park by the door staff offering to carry our overnight bag. Fantastic. Check in was smooth and slick.
We had a wonderful room overlooking the river. It was probably worth the extra (though you also look into the windows of an office block and they look in on you too).
The bathroom was perfectly adequate, though personally we didn't like the small bath with over shower.
The evening bar was plush, we enjoyed the drink and people watching.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely. Everything you'd want, served by some of the most brilliant staff we've ever encountered in any hotel.
In all, a very nice but expensive hotel with absolutely brilliant staff.
On entering our very nice room, we both noticed the stain on the bed end ottoman, not just a water mark but a stain of the type left by a small cat dying a long and agonising demise!! Couple this with the air conditioning obviously bought cheap off Ebay and sounding as if it had last been used in a steel works.
Then to cap it all, and never have I experienced the like in any hotel from guest house to top end, there was no tea or coffee making facilities. So we woke, searched and found nothing. We rang guest services who informed us the makings would be brought immediately. My version of immediately and the Lowry's 20 minutes are obviously different. Lovely we thought, time for tea. But would you believe it. A single (one) breakfast tea bag. Loads of camomile, and other funny stuff but one single bag to be shared between two!!! I phoned again. We were brought some more tea 10 minutes later. So, thirty minutes to get tea. in that time I could have showered dressed and gone to my local Starbucks!!
Come on Lowry what harm is there in leaving tea making facilities in the room.
So, considering a Premier Inn costs a quarter of the price, and for that you get a clean room, no signs of animal euthanasia, and a kettle with tea, maybe it could be worth considering.
Though to be fair other than the above errors; The Lowry was very nice if a tad expensive.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Whilst I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay I was sorry to read about the less than smooth delivery of your tea tray, I apologise for the delay and for the insufficient amenities. You will be pleased to know that we are awaiting the arrival of our new tea and coffee facilities, once arrived a tray will be placed in every bedroom so there will be no need to call to request one in future. Our housekeeping team will review the condition of all ottomans in our bedrooms. Whilst I can assure that no cats have met there demise here, we will of course take care of any shoe polish stains we find. Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. Please do visit again. Best regards, Peter Kienast
