Weber stayed her before and may try elsewhere next time. Yes, it is expensive and I have to report that we felt a little fleeced this time. We dined in the restaurant which is truly a place for the food connoisseur. Just sensational food. But, if I send back the starter, which was ghastly, why am I billed for it? I was too embarrassed by sending food back that I didn't challenge the item being charged for. Neither do we expect to see an open Gratuity box when a service charge has already been levied on our behalf. We thought this was poor indeed.
The room was an upgrade which you pay £20 for as a discount when booking online. It's a confusing process and barely worth it. We were told it included Internet, which The Duty Manager appeared pleased to contest with us whenI phoned to tell them the connection was slow and basically poor. He waved the normal appalling £15 per day fee for high speed internet but the instructions about how to re-connect were inadequate and didn't work. We just didn't bother. The non-high speed connection is really pathetic, that's the best I can say.
I contend that this is a noisy hotel and is the prime reason why we will go elsewhere. There was a noisy function above the restaurant that we could actually hear from the 5th Floor. This is just unacceptable and I needed my ear plugs. But, we've had this issue before with the hotel and it is just inadequate for a 5 star hotel to be this noisy.
Upon check out, be prepared to pay a whopping £15 for the privilege of parking you r car for that day, so you can then stay in the hotel you have paid a lot for. It is outrageous to do this and, again, is a big reason we will go elsewhere. The car park was never more than 2/3 full at any time during our stay, so this is absolutely a rip-off. If, as we feel, you leave the hotel feeling that they've fleeced you, you won't return. Neither do I think they particularly care.
Harsh, but we have seen it before from the hotel and it does not change or improve, in out opinion.
