“Let down by breakfast.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Stayed here for the Lamb of God gig at the Manchester Academy 1, it was a short trek there but not unwalkable. Check in was fairly quick as there was no one else there. They ask that you pay them 1p on your card then they refund it to prove your the person who booked it which was not mentioned beforehand - just hope my card doesn't get blocked for a 1p transaction by my bank as they tend to do that for ridiculously small transactions. Staff were pleasant and reception area was clean and tidy. You have to swipe your room card to access the lift. Room was an acceptable size and clean and tidy. Beds are reasonably comfy and have mattress toppers on. Room meets basic requirements - it has a flat screen tv and a kettle with tea and coffee etc. Bathroom is small but adequate - two plastic cups sit by the sink and face/body/hair wash hangs by the sink and in the shower. Two light switches in the bedroom were incredibly grubby and dirty though. Hotel was quiet enough. Breakfast was a disaster! Everything was sat in it's pan as it had been cooked in, food was of a very low quality. As someone who cooked mushrooms fresh almost every day, I can safely say these mushrooms were obviously tinned, scrambled eggs were dried out. As soon as it hit 10 she wiped all the food away back into the kitchen. So I went up and said are you not putting anymore food out and was met with a puzzled look and her saying well it's 10. Ridiculous. They should at least serve till the people who are in and have paid have finished eating! So then she said well what do you want to eat? And I was like oh I was going to get some more scrambled eggs, so she came back out with the pan of dried out scrambled eggs that had been there before and plonked it down on the side. They should be paying me to eat this 'food', it is that bad. The breakfast was nearly £8 too so not exactly cheap. Ibis you have lost two stars because of the rubbish breakfast. Shame cos the stay in this hotel was otherwise faultless. They also had revolving doors on the entrance which you have to push really hard to move round which again is not very good as they were quite heavy. I would also like to note that they don't put bins in the bedroom.

Stayed for 4 nights with my sister to attend an art event in Eastern Manchester. The hotel was perfect location for us, as we could take the bus almost directly in front of it. It is an Ibis, so you know what you get: clean, comfortable and not overly exciting.
Upon arrival, we got upgraded to a family room with a double bed and a single. This was nice, as I really dislike sharing my duvet! Room was fine, and surprisingly quiet as it was facing a railway track.
It's about a 15-20 min walk to the centre, and we walked plenty to visit the extensive xmas markets and just looking at the architecture. Such a lovely city. We also had a blast going out in Canal Street on Saturday night (5 mins from the hotel).
For breakfast, Gorilla is a short walk away and an extremely tasty option if you opt out of hotel breakfasts as we usually do. Manchester is an absolutely gorgeous city, do visit!

I can't honestly find a fault with this hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the lifts worked, the room was easily big enough and the shower was massive! Bed was comfortable, TV & wifi worked fine. The room was also smart, clean, and well-designed.
We didn't have breakfast but others did and looked happy enough (it was a short walk to the Eighth Day, we did Saturday morning brekky there).
Location is great, a stone's throw from Oxford Road and probably 20 mins walk to the central shops.
It did get a bit noisy in the street early on Sunday morning, but there are three clubs in the immediate vicinity so that's what to expect for a city centre hotel, isn't it? We were on the 6th floor and it didn't keep me awake.

Room Tip: I'd say the higher the better, because of the potential for street noise from clubs.

If you're going to Manchester this is just great. We stayed for 4 nights and we're more than satisfied. Clean (although the carpet might need to be replaced, looks kind of old), comfy beds, good breakfast and helpful personnel.
Not far from the city centre, 10 min slowly walk. Only 8 £ for a cab to Old Trafford.

Very helpful staff, comfortable room and bed, clean and tidy, functioning well. We didnt try breakfast but it smelt good. The room was warm enough. Our little dog was made very welcome, and a fee of £5 for him was very reasonable. We will certainly return to Ibis, I hope they are all as good.

Room Tip: book well ahead for best value for money.

Hotel was a short walk ( 15 minutes) from Piccadilly Station.
Staff were very welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay.
We were a bit apprehensive staying here after reading about rooms cleanliness and noise from the clubs in the area. Our room was clean and for the 4 nights of our stay could not have slept better ( no noise at all).
Breakfast was plentiful and there was a good choice.
You have to factor in the price you pay and therefore we could not fault if (£29 a night)

Its winter and the heating unit in the room wasn't functioning properly. Its also making a lot of noise, disturbing our sleep through the night. The floor feels soiled and very cold, it wasn't cover with proper carpet. The shower gel dispenser was empty. Lastly, the TV set wasn't working. Its really a disappointing stay in room 123.

The only consolation was the shower unit was great and the toilet was nicely insulated from the cold.

I have stay in my ibis hotel throughout the world and this is definitely the worst ever...
