“Great Place with a but.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

Parking is a little steep and they have closed the onsite restaurant for refurbishments, which meant an expensive Hot Dog and Chips for the kids..

Next time I will be taking the advice from other wiser travellers, having some food down at the Romper pub and wandering into the viewing area as it is free for people walking in.

“Interesting afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

Stopped for a couple of hours just to see what there was to see, Parking three pound an hour to maximum of twelve pound for which you could stop all day. Large viewing area of runway and busy with takeoffs and landings whilst we where there which was late afternoon. Main cafe closed for refurbishment but burger stand and tea and coffees available, most people seemed to have gone prepared with a picnic.Teens enjoyed it and would go again and maybe try aircraft tour.

“Concorde visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

Main reason for visiting the park was to take the concorde tour. Opted for the basic tour which included a short film and visit to the aircraft including time in the cockpit. Well worth the visit - the guide was chatty and informative, the plane beautifully kept. The ticket price included parking charges and was good value. If only going plane spotting, then you would need to pay for parking but plenty of space for children to run around safely and situated next to the runway so great view. Refreshments available. No undercover viewing.

“Cheadle & Gatley 41 club visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

For this months Cheadle & Gatley 41 club meeting, 21 of the members went on the Technical Tour lasting 1.5 hours. Excellent visit and the time literally 'flew' by. Both guides were very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. It's very sad that such an iconic plane is now grounded but thankfully she is now under cover and dry, unlike the evening weather. Anyone going to see this plane could not fail to be impressed. Well worth a visit.

The only draw back was the extortionate cost for ringing the General Runway Visitor Park Enquiries from a mobile phone if not with BT !!

“Good afternoon out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

Although we had a good day here it does,nt actually say any were how far from the airport it really is.We arrived by National Express coach (not everybody drives) from Liverpool to the airport and spent at least half an hour trying to find out how to get to the visitor park, a very nice Lady at the information desk downstairs eventually phoned someone at the park who told us what bus to get. When we did eventually arrive although the weather was,nt very nice we still enjoyed the afternoon. For people that DON,T drive you get the no 200 bus from the bus station at the airport £1.50 return for a child and £2.40 adult.I would recommend for a different day out plenty of tables for picnics (which i would recommend to do)although there are eating places they are doing work on a new cafe at the moment, and lots of viewing places, there are two planes which you can view for free which i think would do for young childrens curiosity but they do charge for tours and viewing of the others.
