Arrived at hotel to find that it had closed down two weeks previously! I had no warning from Hotels.com (who I booked it through) or the hotel itself so had to find alternative accommodation. Terrible!

This hotel surprised me after reading such bad reviews! My Single room was very clean, modern, had en-siute b/room. All staff inc. the Manger coulndn't do enough for me throughout my stay! My room no 19 looked onto the bars next door, Selfridges and the Manchester Wheel. Noisy at night but thats summer for you! 5 Star Service!

if all you want is a clean place easy access to the room give this a miss - Bannisters not steady hose pipe leaking in the hall ways dead flies not just one or two right a cross the windows no hot water to wash in - although I would not recommend this hotel the staff were great and its a great pity the hotel would be great place right in the city needs a good clean and a lick of paint and minor repairs a lot them but would be perfect if someone would take the time to deal with it.

Perfect hotel for a night out in town, no taxi required and a lot more character than a bland Travelodge. Staff really lovely and helpful. Our room (20a) had the most amazing view over the Oyster Bar with the Manchester Wheel behind. It is a historic hotel so you do get sloping floors and rattling bannisters but that all adds to the charm! The room was clean, only thing missing was a hairdryer which I borrowed from reception. From Printworks or city centre bars you can practically fall into bed, which we did!

booked this hotel for location to shopping i took my 12year old son for shopping trip to manchester.upon arrival 2minutes from victoria station, hotel next to cathedral and harvey nichs ideal.when we walked in reception it is tired and very old fashioned.put in room 11 no lifts had to go up 2 flights stairs then down another weird and very tireing.dont go if you have walking, breathing difficulties.room very basic indeed had bathroom with shower that flooded floor when turned on.did get clean sheets towels etc. had tea coffee facilities.small tv. we booked 2 nights 15th and 16th feb,two single beds.worst night sleep i have ever had like sleeping on concrete slab awful. didnt stop for 2nd night left and come home early.breakfast was served in little cafe room nice cereals, full english, toast, tea and coffee.only recommend for a night out in manchester as ideal location.

We booked just to stay overnight, but when we arrived our room had been flooded (in hindsight a blessing in disguise!!) We were offered room 22 - without a lift this entailed a climb of about 5 flights of stairs, wobbly bannisters and rabbit warren layout!!! not for the faint hearted, weak- kneeded, heart problems, vertigo or otherwise (or those with luggage!!!) Room 22 reminded us of the haunted house at Blackpool - floor slanting one way, curtains slanting another, ceiling slanting yet another!! no ensuite, the oldest TV either of us have ever seen - reminded my partner of the tv series Life on Mars!!!! We descended back to the bar/check in and told the receptionist (Debbie) we wouldn't be staying, she was most helpful in finding us another room, on what must have been the busiest night in manchester - thanks to Debbie we got a room at the Arora in China Town, which was fantastic.
If you are looking for somewhere just to sleep than this is the place for you - anything else, please go somewhere else.

  • Liked — Reception staff absolutely fantastic!!!
  • Disliked — the accommodation
