4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Have stopped at this hotel many times before journeys abroad, good rooms and restaurants and bar, so for easy trek to all terminals, a good stopping point, and with value, although some reviews complain about food and drink prices.

We have used this hotel for a pre holiday overnight stay after travelling to the Airport by train a number of times and rate it as ideal for that purpose. Less than 5 minutes from Railway station to Hotel and 5 minutes from Hotel to Terminal 2 make it a first choice for us so it's great that the hotel is so comfortable as well as convenient.

COMFORTABLE HOTEL – Modern, Clean, Extremely Friendly & helpful Staff, Clean and small but adequate room well appointed – bathroom a bit basic but adequate for an overnight stay – bed very comfortable – quiet effective air conditioning – modern TV (improvement on our previous stay) – Free WiFi – quiet \7 peaceful despite proximity to trains and planes.
GOOD RESTAURANT – Two restaurants both look good but both quite pricey. We used the Runway brasserie which has a small menu based on burgers and Pizzas and would rather pay high prices for food and service of this quality than start our holiday with poor food – could not fault quality of Food or Service – particularly liked wide choice of wines by glass.
OVERALL – Started off holiday in a relaxed happy and comfortable manner – well worth the price paid

We stayed at the Radisson for 1 night on Monday 7th January before a flight the next morning. The night’s stay including 15 nights parking cost £145.00 which was reasonable, but without the parking this hotel seems expensive. We have stayed here on this basis before so knew what to expect. The best thing about this hotel is the covered walkway to the airport – it was a 5 minute walk to terminal 2. The rooms are ok – they have everything in them you need (tea and coffee, hairdryer, toiletries, etc.) but as some other reviewers have suggested they are looking a bit tired and could do with modernisation. It was very clean though. The TV cabinet was designed before flat screen TV’s, so the TV rests on top of it now which is really too high. These are only minor complaints really, the stay overall was good. We didn’t use the pool/spa area this time, but 18 months ago it was very nice. We didn’t eat here either but had a few drinks in the bar which was surprisingly busy for a Monday night.
There was no delay with getting our car back on our return even though our flight was early (thank god after a night flight!). We would stay here again when flying in the morning from Manchester, purely because of convenience, but would welcome a room modernisation.

Got stranded when my flight was canceled due to a technical fault on the plane. Qatar could not have been more gracious in trying to arrange alternatives for their passengers (full marks to team member Imran on that front). For passengers who they could not find alternative routes, they put up some in the Radisson Airport for the night.
The hotel is connected to Terminal 2 by an enclosed air bridge. Triple glazing keeps out nearly all noise from the airport. The hotel is quite smart, with nice rooms which are adequately spacious - seem more than the 27 sq m they quote - nicely appointed with good bedding, good TV channel selection, etc. A couple of design tweaks needed - the TV screen is obscured at the bottom by the tall cabinet it is located on the top of. The bedside lights are also too dim to read by - they need the angle-able spots so that one person can read whilst limiting light impact on anyone else in the room.
The buffet for stranded passengers was pretty poor - very limited selection of uninspired items which would have been more in place at a school dinner. Paradise Spice came to the rescue though with a delivery of superb Indian food.
Overall I think this is a good hotel.
Overall though a good hotel for the price.

Greetings from Radisson Blu

Thank you for your review.

Happy to read the positive comments but I have also taken note of your feedback re the flight delay buffet. Shall certainly look into it to see what might have gone wrong as the last thing stranded passengers need is a disappointing experience with us.

Hope your delayed outward journey went well.

Cheers.

We have stayed at this hotel many many times over a period of over ten years and can honestly say that a major refurbishment is required in all areas

The location is great because it's connected to all 3 terminals at Manchester Airport, and it's an easy indoor walk in both directions

The rooms are standard Radisson rooms, but these and a lot of the common areas are looking tired, carpets are worn and all in need of improvement

One big bugbear is that the hair dryer should not be connected to a drawer!

The two restaurants are still very good, although a little expensive as is the bar

The pool area with small sauna and steam room are, however, a good plus point

This has got the potential to be a first class airport hotel, but needs some TLC

Chose this hotel due to it's close proximity to terminal 2, with 15 days parking on T2 Long stay car park with buffet breakfast included, staying in a standard room on the 8th floor (Room No 886) with excellent airport views, Room was clean and to a good standard with large comfortable beds. Bathroom had the necessary toiletries to accommodate an overnight stay, thus allowing us to pack our toiletry bag in the case and do twilight check in.
Hotel staff were very accommodating in meeting our requests at check-in for a high floor room with airport views, also by allowing us to park free on the car park, until we were ready to transfer it to the long stay car park.
We can not comment on restaurant or bar prices, as we ate of site at the Honey Bee Inn (Vintage Inns) approx 10mins drive away, which we can highly recommend.
Buffet breakfast was of good quality with plenty of variety to suit all tastes, which satisfied me all the way through a 10hour flight to mexico, therefore not having to eat nasty airline meals.
As others have stated early morning check out if busy can be slow, unless you leave a credit card on check-in, which allows you to just deposit your key cards.
Will be definitely using again when we travel to Mexico xmas.

We booked a night in this hotel so that we were handy for the airport. We then went for dinner. £14.95 for a burger and £6.50 for a glass of wine. This is central London prices at Manchester airport! Unless you get the train to Manchester you are forced to pay these ridiculous prices!
