“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

Visited here Sunday 25-09-2913 at around 4pm and it was pretty quiet so the service was very good as you would expect as there were only 4 tables occupied , the menu was quite good and different than you normally get at vegetarian places no vegi lasagne or vegi chilli so glad about that but could do with a couple more choices, we had a starter of soup with rustic bread and the halopino and cheese scones and they were both very tasty for the mains we had the potato rosti which had 2 poached eggs and butter bean and leek millefeuille and again both very tasty the wine was a couple of pounds over priced for the quality , the final bill was 51 pounds for 2 starters and 2 mains with a bottle of wine so all in all I enjoyed it and would go again

“Brilliant vegetarian bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

First time visitor and glad we made the effort to find it. Great to find a proper vegetarian place rather than somewhere that does food with the meat missing. Recommend the battered haloumi and chips, amazing

“Excellent little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

This is a great little restaurant! Although the tables are packed quite closely together, on each occasion I have visited it has been quiet enough for that not to be a problem. The decor is quite neutral and the place very clean. The staff are always welcome and friendly; they also get the balance right of being attentive without interrupting your meal constantly or 'hovering' whilst you try to eat. The menu is fabulous; it changes with the seasons and is completely vegetarian with vegan options. I am not vegetarian but I don't feel like I am missing meat or that the meals are bland in anyway - what is great about this place is that the options are exciting and interesting, and definitely move away from the tired old pasta and rice dishes served as the vegetarian option in most restaurants. On my last visit I had the chef's taster starter which consisted of three mini bite size starters - beetroot pancake, garlic and pesto bruschetta with onion and tomato topping, and a honeyed carrot soup. It was delicious! The main was a savoury Mille fueille with leek and butterbean filling, a tomato ragu and seasonal veg. It was really lovely and very filling. I will definitely be back as this is a fab little restaurant and definitely provides something different!

“Very pleasant vegetarian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I was meeting friends in Manchester, we weren't going to be there long so didn't want to spend a lot of time wandering about looking for somewhere. We found this, near the Midland Hotel, and it seemed to fit the bill even though none of us are vegetarian. We arrived some time after 4pm when it was very quiet, but we were well looked after, water glasses refilled, lovely chilled Italian white wine, three courses, coffee to follow. We left around 7pm (we had a lot to catch up on!), things were much busier by then but we were made very welcome. £30 each, which included a tip. A very good choice.

“Good vegetarian dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

This was my second visit to this bistro, early on a Saturday evening. We had booked but did not want the table offered as it was too near the door and there was no hesitation in offering us a table further in. We found the service excellent, staff were attentive, didn't need prompting to fill our water glasses. (many places don't automatically serve water as they just want you to buy drinks). We took the two courses for £15 which I think was available because it was early, around 6pm but in any case it is not expensive. Enjoyed a very nice meal. I had tomato and pesto bruschetta, followed by butter bean and leek mille feuille with summer veg and tomato sauce. The veg were particularly nice, not overcooked as found in many non vege restaurants. It was both tasty, attractive, healthy and hot! We received apologies for having to wait a little longer than usual for our mains but it was because they were busy and it was certainly not an excessive wait. And it was good to receive such fresh food. Because we're vegetarian and as such have visited some of the best vege restaurants in the country, I could not say it was one of the best meals I've ever had, but it was excellent, particularly for the very reasonable cost. I will certainly return next time I need to eat in the city centre and do not hesitate to recommend.
