“Good if you need to stay near the airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2011

From my experience with airport hotels they tend to have smaller rooms and they are very basic in terms of luxury and services, I think this hotel was not an exception. My stay was just an overnight as I had an early morning flight so it was excellent choice to stay at the airport. The shuttle to the terminal was decent

In conclusion, if you need to stay at the airport, this is a good hotel for you

Stayed here early September for one night. I booked through the hotel on their park stay go deal with 15 nights parking. We had a nice room on the ground floor with everything we needed for 1 night. The room was very clean and well maintained and we had no issues. As our flight was in the early afternoon we staued in the room until 1030 and were not disturbed in any way. We had to wait for the shuttle to the airport as there was only one bus running, however during the morning and evening peaks there are 2 running, and they are kept very busy. We will definatly stay here on our next holiday before catching a flight

I normally stay at the Radisson when stopping at Manchester airport, but it was fully booked. The hotel was ok, but nothing better. Gripes:
- toilet in room had not been cleaned
- 45 nminute wait for room service so I didn't bother
- noisy air con in room

But it was otherwise clean and the bed was very comfortable.

The biggest issue is the shuttle service to the airport. You don't book it, they advise you to turn up 30 mins befre you need to be there and it's firstcome first served. The bus can take 8, so a couple of groups can fil it up. I got there at 5.45 in the morning and waited 15 mins whille the bus was right there, but no driver. There were a few people ahead of me who had obviously been there longer. By the time the driver came, I estoimate there were 3 bus loads of people waiting. Defeats point of staying on site. Will definitely be sticking to Radisson when possible.

We stayed here on 27th August 2011 as we had an early morning flight to catch and needed to be at the airport at 4am.

We were thrilled at our choice. We had a brilliant stay at The Crowne Plaza.

When we arrived there was a queue and a wait of about five minutes to be checked in. The check in staff were very friendly and certainly seemed efficient.

Upon check in, we were offered an upgrade to a superior room and access to the club lounge ... With unlimited free drinks, canapes and internet access. We took the upgrade (it was the start of our honeymoon, after all) and we are glad we did.

Walking to the elavator to our room I was struck with the modern decor and styling. Despite the modern and trendy feel of the place, it has maintained an amazing sense of warmth and homeliness. I felt comfortable, relaxed and excited. The styling is very well done.

Our room was very much the same. Really comfortable bed, great wide screen LCD TV, clean and tasteful bathroom and remarkably quiet despite being right next to the airport. The view was just a car park, but we never expected to see the ocean or mountains. When the lights were out the room was pitch black which was fantastic for a restful sleep.

We went to the club lounge for the "happy hour" between 6pm to 8pm. We were met with a good variety of unlimited drinks, which was great. The seating could do with being more lounge style, rather than cafe style as comfort wasn't best ever. As for unlimited canapes, they are actually limited by the speed they are served and service, although polite and professional, was a tad slow at times.

At 8pm we went to our room to settle early and watch The X Factor. The TV was great and perfectly positioned. True to form, we got the munchies and ordered room service. We got a steak and onion bagette each, which came with chips. At what was a reasonable price the meal was really good. It arrived hot, well prepared and perfectly cooked. Our sleep was ruined a little bit by full stomachs but we can't blame the hotel for that!

Check out was quick and efficient and the free shuttle bus to the airport was even quicker. It was bang on time, with the driver ready and waiting for us. He took our bags and within minutes we were checking in at the airport.

In all, an excellent stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It served the purpose for our flights and got our honeymoon off to a flying start.

Superb.

We booked the undercover hotel with parking not knowing the hotel name untill payment was made, was payment was taken we were then told it was the 4*crown plaza on the airport. We then up graded for £40 to get a better room with breakfast and best of all a free bar for 2 hours with nibbles well recomended.

We've stayed here four times in the last nine months because it's ideal for park, fly n go and they often have some very good deals when booked through the Crowne Plaza website.

The hotel operates a free shuttle service, is just 5 mins to the terminals, has a reasonable gym and a very good Club Lounge where you'll get excellent, personal and friendly service from 'Nan' the Club Room waiter (he even brought our passports to our room when we accidently left them in the lounge!). They operate a ''happy two hours 6-8pm' where canapes and alcohol are freely available (we've never seen this abused).

Club rooms are well equipped with comfortable beds and a choice of pillows. The Club rooms include a complimentary light breakfast in the Club lounge, apart from at weekends when breakfast tends to be taken in the restaurant. Breakfast in the restaurant is fine and the chef will prepare fresh eggs upon request.

The car park uses a barrier for access and exit - just watch out for the parking charges and the inconvenience of having to stand in line at reception to get parking tickets authorised.

In summary, bearing mind that this is an airport hotel, the only thing that stops me giving this hotel top marks for is the lack of a pool and issues with parking.

Overall, the Crowne Plaza is a clean and efficient hotel. Rooms appear updated and comfortable. The Asian restaurant provides a great selection of dishes from China, Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. Because this is such a good night before the flight hotel, expect a short wait for the shuttle bus. On the morning of my departure, I walked up to the waiting line just as two buses were finishing loading. Due to the small size of the shuttles, only 7 people at a time can be transported. Otherwise, the personnel were very congenial and helpful.
