My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights when attending a wedding in Stockport and also to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in Sept.
Having grown up in Didsbury, I know the area well and this is a particularly lovely area, within easy walking distance of Didsbury Village, with its numerous restaurants, pubs and shops.
The hotel itself is a beautiful converted victorian house, with high ceilings.
On arrival, the staff were polite and friendly, and this continued throughout our stay.
We stayed in the Veranda Suite, which is a beautiful suite - the photos on the website don't do it justice. It's over 2 floors, with access to the walled garden and a small balcony overlooking the garden. It's decorated in neutrals/browns and was very relaxing and comfortable. There was a monsoon shower in the bathroom and a roll top bath in the bedroom complete with candles on the wall for a relaxing soak.
My husband had booked one of the romance packages, consisting of champagne, chocolates, strawberries with a chocolate dipping sauce, rose petals on the bed and some spa toiletries - all very much appreciated on our anniversary and earned my husband a few brownie points!
The breakfasts were cooked to order, plentiful and delicious.
All in all this was a great weekend and the hotel scored top marks. Staff at the hotel encouraged any comments and the one thing I would suggest to improve the hotel would be to have facilities to make fresh coffee in the room, rather than instant coffee. A VERY small criticism indeed and only given as it was requested.
This was a wonderful place to spend our first anniversary and we'll struggle next year to find anywhere as nice.
