Took my cousin here for an afternoon tea treat. The member of staff who greeted and seated us was extremely friendly. She informed us that afternoon tea didn't start until 2.30pm and gave us a cake and drinks menu. But it was downhill from there.
We were sat for quite a while before anyone came to take our order. The staff kept walking past our table and didn't ask if we needed any help. In the end I had to call someone over. We initially had cups of hot chocolate and a slice of red velvet cake. Both were great. But once again we were left sat there with empty cups and plate for about 40mins, and again I had to call someone over to order the afternoon tea. But the empty dishes were left on our table. When the afternoon tea came we were disappointed. I was expecting dainty little sandwiches but received great big sandwiches instead. We ordered a vegetarian version and the selection of sandwiches was very poor. The scone was very small and dry, more like a buscuit, and plain. But the brownie was lovely, as was the passion fruit tart and fruitcake.
Overall I'd say the afternoon wasnt good value for money as I have sampled afternoon tea numerous times before in different establishments. The service needs improving, throughout my whole experience I felt like we were being ignored. The vegetarian selection could do with being varied. But on a plus note, the sweet baked treats were very nice.
