“Great budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Holiday inn oxford road is a modern hotel ideally situated for Manchester visit between Manchester University and the city centre itself
Location is good and central.Parking is short distance away and cheap for Manchester, discount for hotel patrons
Transport link to city and uni/ met very good free shuttle and city buses in each direction.
Hotel clean a modern
Rooms budget sized but well designed excallent bathrooms powerful showers
Beds comfartable towells fluffy
Staff very friendly and efficient We asked for an early check in and rooms were ready early as promised
Only small complaint was the quality of breakfast but suppose this is what is to be expected in a budget Hotel

We booked a one night stay at the last minute at a very reasonable price, including breakfast.

We have stayed in budget hotels before and had some good and some not so good experiences. We weren't too sure what to expect for a city centre hotel at such a great price, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The hotel was clean and tidy, it looked fairly new.

We had a room on the second floor which was perfectly adequate. The bathroom wowed us on arrival and the shiny shower looked most inviting but sadly didn't meet the expectation. It was huge and I was really looking forward to a long power shower. The water pressure wasn't great and so it was more of a dribble than a shower. As we were only there for one night we didn't complain.

We didn't encounter any noisy surroundings but we weren't there at the weekend.

The breakfast was adequate but not extensive. There was enough to eat but if you'd been expecting a full english you would have been disappointed. The buffet was running low at 9am and we had to ask a number of times for things to be refilled - which they were almost immediately. I was disappointed to find there was no Earl Grey tea, plenty of other teas but no Earl Grey. When I asked the member of staff she said she'd never heard of it and what was the difference between grey tea and black tea? Again, because we were only there one night I didn't make a fuss.

Overall, we would stay again. The location is great. It 'does what it says on the tin' in that it's a budget hotel and gives free breakfast and free wi-fi.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor and had no lift difficulties or noise

Stayed here for one night to attend a concert. Staff were really helpfull and friendly. Room was comfortable we were on the 9th floor. Nice big shower in the bathroom. Normal standard holiday inn express breakfast not the best, but if you have stayed in a holiday inn express before you know what to expect. Only down side the air con was not very good found the room, the bar area and the corridoors very stuffy and too warm. Would stay here again though if I needed to be in the area. Would also reccomend the hotel.

Two nights at this hotel and for the price we paid it's very good value. The room was clean tidy, modern everything you would need. Breakfast was no thrills and value. Would recommend to anyone at the value we paid

Thank you for taking the time to give us your review of our hotel.

I am sorry that your stay was not more enjoyable and that you experienced the problems with the air conditioning. We do try to cover problems such as this by providing a fan as an alternative, I am truly sorry that you had this problem.

Thank you again.

Stayed here to attend a conference at the University of Manchester and it was an easy 10 minute walk from there. It was also a short walk to the Northern Quarter with lots of cool bars in the area as well. I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed which was a little rough but that is to be expected on sofa beds. The regular bed was super comfy though. The only thing was the housekeepers were adamant about knocking on the door many times in the morning so just be sure to put your do not disturb sign on the door if you want to sleep in :P Also the shower was awesome!! Great location - would stay here again.

Hotel is right next to Oxford Road Railway Station in the centre of Manchester. Check in was fairly slow as there was a queue. We had an issue with the iron and ironing table. There are none in the rooms. We asked at reception and was told that there was a "waiting list". However, by the morning there was still no irons available which was not great. The rooms were clean, modern and of a good size. The hotel has quite a number of storeys so some people may prefer a low floor. There were no issues with noise - it was perfectly quiet at night. Hotel is in a great location and other than the issue with the irons would recommend this. Certainly it was great value compared to other similar hotels in the area.

Thank you for your review of our hotel.

I am sorry to hear that you had problems in getting an iron and board. We do only have a limited number of these and we are reliant on either knowing that they have been finished with or having them returned. However, it appears that on this occassion we did not manage it very well and I am sorry that this caused you some inconvenience.

Other than that I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay.

Many thanks
