“Not what we expected considering the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel on the 12th of October as we were attending a concert at the M.E.N Arena which is walking distance from the hotel.

The hotel is on a very busy road and doesn't have the nicest if views. The reception was bright and modern and check in swift, although lacking in personality!

We were in a party of four and were given rooms opposite each other which was good. We were on the side of the hotel which overlooks the road. However, as we were on the 6th floor the noise of traffic was not a problem. For the price we paid we were disappointed with the room. The room was very plainly decorated (a £29 Premier Inn room is much more inviting). There was a table with chairs, tea/coffee facilities (glasses in bathroom), plenty of mirrors with good lighting although there was a lack of plug sockets. The bed sheet had a hole in it and when going to bed we realised that, rather than the double room that we had booked, we had been given two single beds joined with a fitted sheet. It was very uncomfortable to lie in the middle of the bed and as the night went on the gap between the beds grew wider until my fiancé was sleeping in a hole between the beds. The bathroom was clean and all the toiletries you would need were provided. However, it was quite dark. My fiancé also sliced his thumb open on a sharp edge when turning the shower off.

We ate in the restaurant and had a pleasant meal but it was overpriced for what it was - you even had to order and pay for chips seperately as these did not come with the steak. Again, we found staff to be lacking in personality.

After the concert we returned to the hotel and had a few drinks in the bar which was pleasant and comfortable. The bar man recommended where we could go for a drink nearby as we were not ready for bed when last orders were called and reception called us a taxi.

In the morning house keeping knocked on our door twice before we even had breakfast. Surely, in this day and age, hotels should be equipped with technology that shows when a room that is only booked for 1 night has been vacated and is therefore ready to be cleaned?

Breakfast was ok. A good selection to choose frm - all the usual suspects. However, it was cold (I understand it is difficult to regulate the temperature with a buffet style breakfast) and a microwave for guests to use would be beneficial. Great sausages but the scrambled egg was terrible!

I think this hotel is a 4* due to having leisure facilities (which we cannot comment on as we didn't use them). Based on the rooms/service/breakfast it is more like a 3* and we have had more enjoyable stays in premier inns/ibis hotels for a fraction of the price. We are staying in this hotel again this evening as we have another concert and booked our two hotel stays at the same time. If, however, we were booking our second trip to Manchester after having stayed here already we would probably not choose this hotel. Simply for the fact that for the money we paid our (very basic) expectations were not met.

Stayed at this hotel for just 1 night whilst on a night out in Manchester. It is literally across the road from the MEN Arena & you can use the Arena parking at a discounted rate through the hotel. Included in the price was full use of the leisure facilities & breakfast (which although I didn't sample myself, I am reliably informed it was excellent!). Check in was fast, easy & efficient. Reception staff were very helpful. The 3 rooms booked for our party were all immaculate, spacious, quiet, clean & well equipped. The only gripe...no hair drier! So girls (& maybe boys) take one with you :-) I would recommend this hotel for short or longer stays & for the money was more than I expected. In short, a really great Manchester hotel with superb facilities, brilliant location & very comfortable rooms.

The Park Inn is a lovely relaxing hotel; the rooms are in excellent condition, very clean and have nice touches like the toiletries.

The dining area is very popular and many were turned away in the evening, however, I understand there is a local theatre and it is used by non guests too. The breakfast is excellent with a lot of choice and helpful staff.

The nearest train station is Victoria, a five minute walk and the reception staff was very helpful in printing out a local map and with information of the area.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Thanks for the great review DeerUK and the handy tip that when the Manchester Arena has an event on it is always best to book for dinner in our RBG Grill restaurant to avoid disappointment.

All the best,

I stayed here on business, weekdays for several month and it is most excellent. Staff are professional and friendly, breakfast is fab and the rooms are everything you would expect. However, I have a tip for you. This took me a while to work out on my frequent visits but this is how it goes:
Parking is in the Manchester Evening News Arena (MENA) NCP carpark opposite.
The hotel has made an arrangement with NCP for discounted overnight stay - just get you ticket stamped on reception. This reduces the 24hr tariff from £18 to £12. However, there is a catch. NCP are smarter than we would like to think. If you get you ticket stamped it will charge a minimum of £12 and then multiples of £12 for each 24 hr period. So 25 hrs parking will cost you £24. It doesn't take much working out but you may have to keep one eye on the clock and exit/re enter if you intend to just cross a 24hr boundary prior to exit.

Room Tip: Do not select a room opposite the lift on the 6th floor. You can hear the lift motor all night

Stayed here for John Bishop at MEN Arena, the location is fab, as its literally just across the rd,
we stayed on a friday night so it was quite busy.Theres a good bar with outside space with heaters which is good if you need a fag!
I agree with the previous review you are very limited if you want to get something to eat , room service menu wasnt great and the fryer had broke so you couldnt order fries! and there didnt seem to be anything close by and the area isnt great to be walking about late at night, but i would stay here again if i was going to a gig.
The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable, the bathroom is a good size with a decent walk in shower.
