“Amazing little hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

My fiancé and I stayed here for my 30th birthday and from the moment we got there we were made to feel welcome with little touches that you wouldn't get offered in a normal hotel. We were brought a welcome tray with posh cookies withing the first 15 mins of being there and the rooms was turned down while we were out for dinner with further little 'gifts' left on our pillows.

The decor is so tastefully done and it really feels like you are somewhere special. Although I think the best little touch is the little rubber duck you get in the bathroom - how cute.

We will definitely be returning :-) Thanks to Velvet Hotel for making my 30th birthday!!

My boyfriend booked a night at Velvet to celebrate our engagement. Normally my staff stay here so was looking forward to the luxury.
Checked in and was taken to the Penthouse. WOW fab room with mezzanine bedroom and lots of little extras fresh biscuits, fruit, robes, great toiletries, iPod doc etc...
Loved room located in the village with super friendly staff. Had a few drinks in bar downstairs very chic with good choice of cocktails.
Delicious breakfast in restaurant and loved fish tank in the stairs!

The Velvet hotel, Manchester, a delight....opulent, hedonistic rooms with fantastic food and helpful, friendly staff.....perfect for a romantic evening (our wedding anniversary) and half-an-hour’s drive to Manchester Airport where I was flying from the next day…..well worth a return visit....and we will....!

Room Tip: Room 32, for a pool sized bath.

Stayed for one night whilst in Manchester for a gig. We were in room 24 which was WOW... Massive bed...massive bath and massive shower! As mentioned previously the welcome tray is a nice touch as is the Ren toiletries and lovely thick bath towels. Each member of staff we encounted, we found helpful and friendly. Ate in the restaurant and had a cocktail in the bar, both of which had a good atmosphere and quick service... All round enjoyable experience and would return!!

we picked this hotel based on its high trip advisor ranking, and although it was nice, it was let down by certain aspects we didnt expect.
The hotel itself is near immaculate inside, with great friendly staff who are happy to help.

The first room we where shown to was however, was not suited for a romantic night in.
The mural on the wall is over a screaming women bleeding from multiple angles, while demonic cherubs and apparitions of satan giggle at her from across the room, this litrally covered 75% of the wall space and was dimly lit, some people may find this room an enjoyable place to spend the night, we asked to move. which they obliged.

We moved to the penthouse suite at an increased cost, and it was a fantastic room, two tvs, upstairs and downstairs, all the five star features.

However, the music from the clubs next door went on till around 4 in the morning, the bass pumping through the room, awful nights sleep.

The hotel itself is more suited for the gay community, all the clubs outside are brashly named gay bars like "QUEER" and "GAY" and during our stay we felt like the odd ones out, and no-where near by to go for a quiet drink. Any bar that advertises itself round the ideal of a sexual orientation, is somthing i would expect on a seedy island holiday, wheres the class ?
The hotel penthouse floor also had photographs of topless women kissing, and the in house bar was full of guides to safe gay sex. none of this was in any way a "problem" for us, it just further isolated us and re-enforced the point we are not who the hotel caters towards

Nice hotel, wont be returning ever, would recommend it for gay couples/singles only.

Room Tip: not room 12

We had a one night stay in a velvet king room. The Room was beautiful & the staff were more than helpful. The food was very reasonable & tasty. The cocktails were a refreshing change. I would stay there again, and I hope anyone who goes enjoys it as much as we did xx
