“Good Quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Stayed over boxing night. Good central location. friendly staff, very good breakfast, modern well specified room, bed mattress too soft. Would recommend. Arndale centre and tram system 100m away. Parking across the road £10 for 24hrs.

We had stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Manchester several times but this was the first time we had stayed in such a large room (716). The room was very well decorated and very clean. One minor point is that it would be a good idea to provide two bathrobes as standard. We also had access to the Club Lounge which gave us free tea and coffee all day and canapés and alcoholic drinks between six and eight pm. This was a great start to our nights out. We were also entitled to a free continental breakfast in the lounge but you could pay an extra £5 to upgrade to the buffet breakfast in the main restaurant. The staff were very helpful as usual. We can't wait to return.
We tried a gorgeous tea shop in the area called Sugar Junction and a trendy wine bar/ restaurant called Bakery both are highly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 716 was on the corner and very large.

We have stayed in a few Crowne Plaza hotels now and have always been happy with them, so are now one of the first I look for when booking. This hotel is in a great location by the Arndale, near good nightlife and near the MEN arena which is where we were going. We parked opposite easily, and it felt secure. Cross the road and you're at the hotel- so don't let the lack of hotel parking put you off.

Check in was pleasant although we arrived at 12 and our room wasn't ready. We left our bags and came back later which was fine.

We had a club room which was immaculately decorated in a nice modern style- definitely my taste. Room was small however with little storage. Bed was large and very comfortable. TV had good selection of channels. Bathroom was functional with separate bath and shower although again the shower was small and things like shaving legs was actually quite tricky.

Club lounge was great- free wine and beer for a short period in the evening was great- canapes were fine but nothing special. We didn't actually bother with breakfast at all- too early for us ;-)

Shopping was on the doorstep with a cafe next door and a convenience store as well. We headed into town for the evening and checked out a few bars on Deansgate, think we'd try the locks next time, so that gives us a reason to return!

All in all, very happy with our stay and would use again.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaze for New Years eve with our two young children. having stayed there before as a couple we were looking forward to it but actually I was a bit underwhelmed with the family room. It was a small room with 2 double beds in it and not much room to move around. They'd given us a room with an interjoining door to the room next door which wasn't great for us as the people next door came home at 4.30am in the morning and carried on the party. I imagine our kids getting up at 7am wasn't so great for them either. I just thought it was a bit thoughtless of the hotel to book it like that really.
Also it was very hot in the room and the bed rolled intowards the middle.
On the positive side the room was very clean, the bathroom, products and shower were great. Breakfast was nice too and you can't beat the location. I'm not sure if I would stay again with kids though,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

It is our intention to ensure that our guests are delighted with all aspects of their stay at the Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre; therefore I am very sorry to learn that you were disappointed with the size of a standard two double bedded room. We do offer alternative options for families should you require more space on a future stay such as a spacious twin deluxe club room containing two double beds or a double room interconnecting with a twin room. .

I do hope to welcome you and your family back to the hotel in the future.

Kind Regards
Bob Fairweather

Great room and view, breakfast over-priced, go next door and have a great breakfast at half the price. The room was very clean and tidy, lovely bathroom products and very comfy bed. Go for a room near the top floor as its a busy road, keeps you away from the hussle and bussle.

Room Tip: Near top floor so not as much noise

One night stay on the club floor giving us free access to the club lounge for canapes & drinks & a more than adequate breakfast. Car park "Total P" across from the hotel with a £10 charge for 24 hours. shopping centre a mere 5 minutes stroll from hotel & close by the Printworks & Deansgate. Ideal location for the night life & with tram station close by why stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: Air con motors on the roof mean that some humming can be heard. If you are a light sleeper ask for...

we've stayed twice now and have to say that we love this place. the location is handy of shopping. the northern quarter and the arena - all just a few mins walking distance. the rooms are brilliant and consistently clean with a fresh and modern feel. stayed in loads of hotels in Mnchester but this one is our favourite. the first time we booked in we got a room on. a high floor facing the the main road - it had some fantastic views across Manchester. the last time we stayed we were on the back of the hotel, low floor and there was a bit of noise must be from house-keeping or the kitchens, it didn't bother us too much because we had to be up early but i will be pushing for a high floor and room with a view next time (like our first visit). We ate in the restaurant and had a drink in the bar and the service was fantastic - food was really good as well. we will be back here for sure.

Room Tip: high floor, front of hotel
