“Tranquility at this wonderful bed and breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here on 4th January and were not disappointed. Our host Judy was at the door to greet us on arrival, she was charming. We stayed in the four poster bedroom and it was absolutely lovely. The furnishings in this bed and breakfast were lovely and you felt like you were stepping back in time. We slept with the curtains and the window open, the only noise to be heard was an owl. The breakfast was lovely, all locally sourced or home produced. We will definitely return to enjoy the gardens in the summer. We ate our evening meal at the pub in the village however there are many places to eat if you want to drive, one recommendations is the Churchill Arms in Paxton which is about 4 miles away.

We stayed there for one night. As the other reviews say - its a very beautiful botique inn with a garden and very cozy public areas with a much higher decorating standard than other b&bs. The host was very nice and breakfast was nice as well. The only thing that bothered us is that we chose to stayat the second floor double ensuit room. Had we have known more details about it we wouldn't have stayed there (although the price was indeed lower). Its a attic. A very niceone, but stil a attic. That means that in some place (especialy part of the bathroom) you can't stand up streight and that its colder at night. The room has heating but it wasn't heated prior to our arrival and it was switched off during the night so it was cold. We really believe that the other rooms don't have such problems and otherwise have given it a much higher score but if you choose to stay there pay a few extra pound and don't stay in the room we stayed in.

This is a beautiful boutique inn, with gardens, an orchard and croquet court. Our room (number 1) was spacious and well appointed. The inn is a few minute drive to Chipping Camden or a 25 minute pleasant walk on one of the Cotswold’s many walking paths along fields. The owner is lovely and serves a hearty English breakfast. The house cat was duly attentive, as well (and we LOVE cats). The only caution is that we drew a soaking bath, then ran out of hot water. A small inconvenience. This was our favorite place to stay in the Cotswolds!

Room Tip: Room number one is beautiful and we were delighted with it. However, we had to climb a set of outsi...

We had the good fortune of our daughter booking this B and B for us. What a wonderful choice.
The room was excellent and overlooked the wonderful gardens. Judy was an excellent host. The Malt House is located in the very peaceful and quiet hamlet of Broad Campden only a mile or so from Chipping Campden whether by road or across the fields. The breakfast was a feast. The gardens were very nice and not to be missed ,including the greenhouse. The Bakers Arms is just around the corner which serves excellent value food. The Church is just around the corner too.
The trip was booked as a gardend trip but we would certainly recommend it for any reason. Wonderful B and B and will return when we have the opportunity to visit this part of the Cotswolds again.

We had an extremely pleasant stay here, the homely feel and personal service was very welcoming. I am sure we will visit again perhaps in the summer to explore more of the area for which this hotel is well positioned.

The Malt House is a superb boutique hotel in, for our money, the prettiest village in the Cotswolds. We took advantage of a midwinter 3-nights-for-the-price-of-2 package and booked a garden suite. Judith, the very pleasant owner, and her partner, David, even lay on a friendly cat, Dizzy, to entertain guests. Oh, there are also pheasants to be seen scooting around the 3 acres of grounds.
An excellent cooked breakfast is also provided and there is also an "honesty" bar. It's only a very short walk to the local pub, the Bakers Arms which serves good real ales as well as good food. There are also plenty of "gastropubs" in the area such as the Churchill Arms (the name of the village escapes me).
The medieval wool town on Chipping Campden is just down the road and that, too is very attractive. It's only a 25 minute leisurely stroll into Chipping Campden along footpaths over the fields but when the vista of Chipping Campden comes into view it is enough to make one's heart sing.
Everything about the Malt House is of the highest quality. We have stayed in many cottages in the Cotswolds as well as one or two country hotels but this was quite the best experience we have had.

Room Tip: If you can, choose a garden suite; more room to relax and enjoy this superb hotel.

The Malt House, along with Judi the innkeeper, were the BEST. Yes, a trifle on the expensive side, but not when you consider the quality of all the furnishings as well as the quality of the breakfast -- all local/homemade.

Book a bike (or even some horseback riding) and stay for longer than we did. If we had known beforehand, that is what we would have done --
