My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights while attending the St. Leger at Doncaster race course. First impression on arrival was that it looked more like an army barrack block than a hotel. It is situated in a terrible location on the edge of an industrial estate, an outet retail park is just over the road but you take your life in your hands to get over the road to it and this is made even worse at the moment due to major road works taking place. Obviously the road works are nothing to do with the hotel but beware if you are considering visiting this hotel in the next few months at least. Other than the outlet park there is absolutely nothing within walking distance from this hotel, not even a newspaper shop (the hotel amazingly doesn't sell papers and neither does anywhere on the retail park). The photographs on the hotel website are extremely deceptive and the reception, bar and restaurant are all in one small area. Breakfast was very poor (absolutely the worst I have ever had in any hotel), salty, undercooked bacon, very poor quality sausages, only scrambled egg readily available any other type had to be ordered and then you waited for it with the rest of your breakfast going even colder than it was to start with, this was compounded by the fact that the plates are absolutely stone cold to start with. On our second day the milk dispensers were both empty and were not re-filled for about 10 minutes, there were no glasses available for juice and no cups available for tea or coffee, again it was over 10 minutes before any were brought out. The restaurant area is so small that people were having to wait some considerable time to get a table. In spite of all these negatives the staff were fantastic and did their utmost to try to overcome the problems. Our room itself was very good, it was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was also quite big with everything you would need for a short stay. If you are staying in Doncaster I would definately recommend you to have a look at alternative hotels to this one. I would certainly not stay at a Park Inn by Radisson again.
