“Great Location and Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

Myself and a few friends stayed here for one night only, all stayed in twin rooms and must say could not fault them. They were very clean and spacious with a great view of the Lancaster Canal. I also booked a table for 14 in the evening and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and of course the drink, but most of all, we were all pleasantly surprised with the bill, very reasonable. The staff were also very friendly and could not do enough for us. A twin room with bed and breakfast cost £74 and yet again everyone was very happy with this. The breakfast was excellent and worth every penny. Myself and friends would highly recommend any one staying here, you will not be disappointed. Book early to get great deals.

Room Tip: Room 8 had a great view of the Canal. Try and book early for some great deals.

This is our second stay at this hotel in the last 6 months and I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a short stay in Lancaster. Rooms are clean and well maintained if a little quirky at times - every one has individual decor. Staff are extremely pleasant and polite and the food is superb. Hotel located right in the city centre so all places of interest are nearby in walking distance.

Have stayed at the Penny Street Bridge hotel a few times for business.
Rooms are a good size with excellent showers.
The Bar always has a good selection of beers and bar staff are friendly.
Good location in Lancaster, although no hotel parking, local parking is available at a reasonable cost.
Breakfast good but cooked option can take a while. I suppose it's the price you pay for food cooked to order.
Good value for money.
Definitely recommended.

We were planning a 3 night stay in Lancaster for part business and part pleasure. We chose this hotel as it was conveniently positioned for the city centre and was reasonably priced.

Being particular about the type of room we wanted, I emailed the hotel with our requests. I received a speedy reply from Holly who , patiently responded to various further requests with patience and good humour.

Our room was good,if a little smaller than we had hoped, with a good bathroom. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained.

The Penny Bridge is probably best described as a cross between a hotel and a pub/restaurant with rooms, though it does have many rooms and a lift.

it is in a great position for shopping and nightlife with the main shopping area just a few minutes walk away.

The pub/restaurant underneath was much much better than we expected. It is huge but with lots of little nooks and crannies to create atmosphere. We had drinks there before going out to eat elsewhere each night, but the food did look great and the menu catered for all ages and for families with children.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and was excellent. On our second morning my partner had to leave to attend a conference just as his breakfast arrived at the table. The waitress very kindly and very quickly, packed his full english into a couple of cobs and wrapped it in tin foil for him to take away. That is what I call fantastic customer service. Very thoughtful and kind on what was a busy morning.

i have been meaning to write this review for ages and cannot recommend the hotel enough for anyone wanting a convenient, reasonably priced place to stay in Lancaster.

I didn't actually meet Holly but she was a credit to the place for her efficiency and down to earth common sense during the planning of our trip.

I had booked a number of rooms for family and friends staying in Lancaster for a wedding. Our requirements changed a couple of times in the lead up to the big day and the hotel was always very quick to respond to my emails and could not have been more accommodating.

On arrival we were given a warm welcome, and the flask of fresh milk for tea and coffee in our rooms was perfect. The size and layouts of rooms varied due to the nature of the building but all were very clean and well equipped with all we could need - and I am confident that if anything more was needed it would have been quickly provided for us without fuss. The bed we had was a bit 'saggy' but mattresses are a matter of personal preference and it was not really cause for complaint.

Bar service was good, and though on occasion food service (lunch and breakfast) was slow, staff did their best and were apologetic. Breakfast fare was good with lots of choice (though if I am being picky I had been looking forward to fruity bread, and the bread on offer for toast was standard sliced white or brown and I would have maybe expected a little better - this is something which could easily be remedied).

I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate in recommending it.
Thank you Penny Street Bridge!

Fabulous hotel, great for Gluten Free, spotlessly clean. Can't ask for more. staff so helpful, very fast reply to questions. Five star beyond a doubt. Baths or shower... Just ask. Perfect. Good menu, wine reasonable, great local ales and take away packs.

Room Tip: Room 1 is great for work, with a bath.
