Spent several hours here whilst in the area. Lots of woodland walks and excellent views over the coast, Pennines and Lake District. Was more of a woodland than a park as such though there was a large children's play area.
Have often seen the Ashton Memorial from the motorway so it was nice to visit it at last and the views from the open balconies were outstanding. It is situated at the highest point of the park and is a beautiful building surrounded by other Edwardian glasshouses and buildings. The butterfly house was particularly interesting with many large butterflies flying freely and there was also a small walk through aviary and small snakes and spider house. All in all a pleasant place to while away some time on traditional pursuits away from the high tech world!
