“Handy for that long trip North”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

On the Northbound Services of M6 (but accessible from the Southbound ones via a back lane), we stopped off her en route to Scotland. Very helpful & chatty staff, pointing us to a lovely Pub for a meal & a drink.
Usual Travelodge rooms - nice & clean & well-maintained, bathroom good too.
Highly recommended if you need a stop off & can get a bargain price. Free Parking, too.
Couldn't hear any Road noise during the night.

Did ring in advance to check that our late arrival would be ok, especially as we would be coming across the access road from the Southbound side. Now on reading other reviews it would appear this was a good plan as we were then booked in prior to arrival.
Had booked bed & breakfast - the breakfast box was given to us on arrival - which is a shame as it then meant that everything in the box was lovely and warm by the morning!
The room was nice & clean. But the temperature in the hotel and room was off the scale - I do like to be warm, but this was like being on holiday. It was too hot to sleep comfortably in. The other complaint would be the pillows, great if you want to sit up in bed and watch the tele, but to sleep on, they were far too thick. Need to offer a thick and a thin pillow.

Not very well signed from the slip road. But I guess that is down to Moto rather than Travelodge. Also It's also not that easy to spot now that the trees in front have matured. Keep left at top of the slip road & it's on the left as you head toward fuel.
You will need to log your vehicle registration number at reception to avoid a penalty parking charge from Moto Services. In the past I have experience difficulty entering my number on the touchscreen. The receptionist showed me that I needed to touch the screen with a fingernail. After that the number went in a treat.
A number of earlier reviews reported that the lodge smelt musty. That it was dirty with mould on window frames & the en suite fittings.
I can't vouch for the rest of the rooms but our room had been redecorated even down replacement of all the silicone beading. Even the carpet under the bed had been vacuumed I also didn't notice any mustiness anywhere else I went in the building.
I overheard a conversation late at night from which I formed the impression that overbooking can still be a problem.

This travelodge is so in need of refurbishment it's not true. The room to be fair was very clean but it was drab and depressing and our mattress had a hole in it and no mattress protector on it either!!! The staff I have to say couldn't be more helpful but it wasn't a pleasant stay and furthermore on the day we were leaving we got a puncture from the bumpy road you had to cross to get to the travelodge. That meant we had to stay at the services for three hours waiting for help as our tyre was completely shredded. Unless I am very short of money I wouldn't stay there again.

we arrived at midnight to be told our booked room was not available- rooms overbooked
would not have been so bad except reception told us this happens EVERY night
we had to go to Lancaster city lodge which meant it was half one in the morning when we finally got to bed- to add insult to injury we had to pay for parking!!!
the room was very small although clean but the only compensation we were offered was a box breakfast!!
the room we were given overlooked the main street so when the night-clubbers finished their shouting at half three we had one hour before the day noises of bin lorries etc started!

profit would appear to be the only reason a business would be run in this appalling way - its a form of cheating I believe
encourage someone to book in advance to secure a much needed bed then treat them like rubbish by giving their bed to whoever turns up
they have no conscience about doing it and leave some poor chump on the front desk to take the flak and issue weak apologies- and he is probably working for minimum wage!!

DO NOT book to stay here if you want to be sure of a rest from your driving

Room Tip: don't stay in any Travelodge- find another chain and make sure they don't do the overbooking...

The room was clean and the hotel did take dogs as promised. The only issue with the room was that it was very hot, hotter than the outside temperature should have made it. Also the toilet didn't flush very well. And whatever you do, don't have the breakfast box. Other than that it served our needs.

Staff were polite, the room was clean. They even made up the extra bed for us which unusual at a travelodge. Reasonable priced. What more could you ask for. It is what it is.

The only moan is that there was someone above room 28 that insisted on walking about constantly with jack boots on.
