“No Twin Rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

I stayed a night in this hotel with my brother so we booked a twin room. The room we were given had only a double bed so we questioned the workers behind the desk, assuming it was a misunderstanding. Apparently there is only a single bed in the room yet it classifies as a twin room because the sofa doubles up as a bed for another person. However, all this gave me was a painful back in the morning and a terrible night's sleep. We requested extra pillows but were told that the hotel was full and there was no chance. Staff weren't interested in our issue which left us feeling unsatisfied and as though we'd been lied to.

Room Tip: Bring your own bedding and a spare bed!

Stayed for one night as a break in a journey and the depressing first impressions did not improve as we entered our room. The hallway was unbearably hot and the room stuffy but despite facing away from the motorway, the traffic noise was too loud with the windows open.

I stayed with my two chidren but only the double bed was made up. We had to ask for a base sheet for the (very hard - and yes we are used to camping on hard floors) sofa bed. The sheets were clean as was the kettle (only 2 mugs though) but the bathroom was not good - dirty grouting, no towell holder and the area under the rim of the loo was just beyond disgusting.

There are pubs in nearby villages but with two tired chidren we just used the Burger King option at the services which was expensive and bland. Bought rolls in the M&S store t the services for breakfast and got out fast after little sleep.

When the reception has a sign warning you that the company has a zero tolerance policy on abuse to staff, you kind of guess that they must get a lot of complaints! One to avoid unless deperate.

Room Tip: Go to a Premier Inn

We booked for one night as a stopover on our way to a holiday in Scotland and got it for only £25 - whilst it served a purpose and was cheap, it was well below the standard of other travelodges we have stayed at. Check-in was straightforward but when we got up to our room, we found the curtain was down and laying on the windowsill and we only had one towel between us! We went and spoke to the receptionist who came up to the room and sorted out the curtain, likening the place to Fawlty Towers as she did so! The room was OK and very quiet, but there were loads of small cobwebs on the window so cleaning needs to be improved. The bathroom was basic, with a broken bracket on the wall indicating where the towel rail used to be! We wont be back.

Room Tip: Try another hotel!

Firstly I would like to say the staff could not have been more helpful even though I would say they are overworked and underpaid! They seemed to wear lots of different hats and worked very hard! The hotel however was EXTREMLY run down and in need of some maintenance and love. Broken towel rail (sharp bits left in the wall), no mirror, depressive rooms which needed brightening up, power that cut out in our room every time we had more that 3 electrical items working at once. Had we not got this room on the £20 per night deal I would have complained, but I felt so sorry for the hard working staff I did not have the heart.

Room Tip: Erm.. wait until they have a re-firb. Fine if you are purely using it as a base to sleep and shower...

stayed here as a cheap deal stopover from blackpool before we went to Lakes, firstly greeted by the most miserable receptionist. Who didnt even tell me that I had to enter registration into computer worked that out for myself. Room had holes with shoddy polyfilla in it - Kettle disgusting, tiles in bathroom dirty - Toilet looked like it had never been cleand for months - horrendous, especially as I had my 3 year old with us. Awful, travelodge need to get their act together - will not be staying again.

We stayed here after visiting Blackpool zoo, was very pessemistic after reading reviews but it wasn't as bad as people described, just your average service station travelodge. Parking was easy and was easy to access even from south side of m6.

Stayed here with my wife and two young children as a mid way stop over to Milton Keynes from Scotland. Firstly if you are coming from the North, then there is a way over the motorway, but it is not signed and we travelled down to the next junction and then back up to park on the right side. The receptionist did show us how to get across the carriageway the next morning but there are no signs. The room itself was not expensive, and it showed. The coffee mugs had not been cleaned from the previous guests, the beds were clean but uncomfortable and the bathroom was so grotty, my wife would not let our children use the bath. Cheap but definitely not cheerful, and would not stay here again.
