“The room was lovely, the staff couldn't do enough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

This was a mid way stop for us on a long trip. The staff were most welcoming and dealt with confusion about our reservation kindly and professionally. We took a pint to our room..relaxed and then enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant. Breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold..which included Nutella (always a favourite with the kids) they also enjoyed a great swim in the pool before getting back in the car for a long day.

We stay at this hotel each year and use it as a place to meet up with my parents when they've had the kids for a week. It's half way between the two of us and is close enough to the M6 to not add any miles to our journey. The hotel is quiet and has enough to keep is and the kids amused. We like the pool, sauna, steam room and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfast is very good especially the new pancake machine! The evening meal is ok if you go for the pub grub menu. It's on the pricey side but is good enough for one night's stay. I would avoid the dinner b&b option as the food in the evening on that menu is not good at all. The staff are all pleasant, efficient and very busy. He staff in the restaurant could not have been more helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as far away from the lift as possible. You'll either hear folk coming in from the...

Lovely place to stay. Great food, nice setting, friendly and efficient staff what more could you want? It's right next to the M6 too, so very convenient - and no, it is not noisy. It is also next to the River Lune with a very nice walk. Playground for the children as well.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back, overlooking the river are nice, dogs enjoyed it too. Plenty of space for them to...

Just returned from a lovely long weekend at the Holiday Inn Lancaster with my husband and twin 2 year olds. It was the first time that we've stayed in a hotel with the kids and to say we were apprehensive would be a vast understatement! We really shouldn't have worried, the team at Holiday Inn Lancaster were second to none, they were friendly and helpful at every possible opportunity. It's clear that the management team have created a culture which allow their staff to think for themselves, practically and with a common sense and fun approach. From bringing up warm glasses of milk for bed-time to being entertaining and creative in arranging the toys on the childrens bed's (Buzz was standing in the middle one day with hands on hips!) it's also worth mentioning that we never passed a member of staff without them saying hello to us and the kids, they were treated as guests in their own right, not just kids accompanying parents. We are so thankful to the team, they really set the tone for our holiday and we will definitely be returning next year.

For some more practical info:
Family Room:
Spacious, clean & comfortable. Black out curtains worked so well we got a lie in until 7.30am one morning! Sofa beds were fine for the kids, able to push them together to stop them from rolling out onto the floor so fab for little ones.

Location:
the hotel is only a few hundred yards off the motorway, 25 mins to Blackpool Zoo, 45 mins to Windermere and 10 mins to Morcambe. There are a number of supermarkets in 10 mins driving distance (most of which we noticed on our way to Morcambe)

Eating In:
Not sure if the kids eat for free is available when not eating in the restaurant (admitedly didn;t check just paid the bill) restaurant opens at 6.30pm, (too late for the kids) but there waswim a lounge area which had some toys that kids could play with at the table whilst waiting for food to arrive, this was fine for us.

Breakfast:
Lovely cooked breakfast options, ceral, fruit, pastries, cooked meats and make your own pancakes - really everything that you could want, plus kids def eat free for breakfast.

Swimming Pool:
Pool very nice and clean, encouraged to check during busy periods for availablitiy to avoid disappointed kids, we never had any problems. Need £1 for locker, towels supplied when you enter the pool/gym reception, electric dryers for swimming cozzy really useful.

Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff. Huge thanks to the whole team!

Room Tip: rear of hotel with river view - get to see the rabbits in the morning and at tea time.

My family and myself have just returned from a short break at the Holiday Inn, Lancaster. We had a lovely time. The room was clean and spacious with superb views over a river. The hotel facilities were outstanding, with a gym and spa which I thoroughly enjoyed each day and a pool, which my young son adored. There was a playground at the back of the hotel which my son loved to play on and a lovely walk by the side of the river which was lovely to stroll along after eating in the restaurant. The restaurant food was fresh with a wide variety for all. The breakfast was brilliant! There was something for everyone - the pancake machine was a huge hit with my son and the cooked breakfast was a huge hit with my husband! There was also two boxes of games and colouring for all the children to enjoy whilst the adults finished their meals.
I would recommend Holiday Inn Lancaster to all. It was a very affordable break with top quality facilities, making a mini holiday extra special because of the warm and friendly staff that facilitated it all.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view!

Stayed as a platinum member..nice upgrade to an exec room. Also given a choice of a 500 point voucher or a free drink..not a hard choice for me! Ate in the restaurant.. a popular choice and great with 50% off grub with my Tastecard.. also brunched it twice with my discount!

The room was clean and fresh..one of the older HIs but very acceptable indeed. The wifi worked well. I need to make a point of note about the hard working and ever attentive Greek General manager.. Lazarus.. a manager that is on the shop floor working/waiting on tables rather than sat in a back office... a credit to the hotel. It struck me that this place was used either as a break on the way along the M6..its about 1/2 mile off the motorway or as a base for Lancaster (That was us). A nice walk along a path alongside the river into town..about 40 mins walk. The onsite sports facility is included in the room rate with gym/pool/jacuzzi.. a nice chill both days.

Note there is a Brewers Fayre across the road as an alternative for drinks.. about 90 seconds walk. Deffo a place to return to if in the area.
