“Warm Welcome - Dog Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Stopped here for lunch on the way from Scotland to Stafford (it's just a few minutes from the M6 with a very pleasant dog walk over the bridge across the river) We were all made very welcome (kids and small dog included) The food was good and great value for money and there were some excellent cask beers available as well as a bowl of water for the dog. Really enjoyed it and will be calling again whenever travelling south. :)

“warm welcome, food average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

Having read the reviews. on tripadvisor we were looking forward to enjoying the food here. The staff were very friendly, beers excellent and overall impression very good. The menu offered a good choice including Sunday roast. We chose 2 steak specials, steak burger and a chicken burger. The rump steaks tasted good but were quite chewy however, the sauce was very good.
The steak burger was okay but nothing special and unfortunately the deep fried chicken burger was pretty dry. The plentiful quantity of chips were more like potato wedges but varied from undercooked to well done. Overall the food was only average, quantity does not mean quality, and the pricing is a little o.t.t. A gastropub it isn't but it is a family pub that offers a warm welcome and very well kept cask beer.

“Great local”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014 via mobile

We visit regularly and bring friends and family and are never disappointed. Good food reasonably priced and a great atmosphere. Large menu ranging from steaks, fish, chicken dishes, daily roasts and traditional puddings. Well worth a visit.

“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

An above average pub food experience, that then gets extra marks for service, atmosphere and actually bring welcoming, but also retaining a village pub feel. Food is on the large side portion wise, quality is not fine dining but it is well cooked and very tasty. Does what it does well, and doesn't spoil it with gastro pub aspirations. Well worth a trip.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

The food is delicious and the hospitality excellent. I have taken many friends here and they have all been very complimentary! We have had family celebrations there, including a christening. A great time was had by all.

You will have to wait for food - it is freshly cooked. But well worth the wait.
