“a pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

we booked at last minute for some where to spend an extra night in Lancaster. What a lovely surprise. The staff were friendly and carried the bags to the room. Access was by a metal staircase but we were given room 1. It was a lovely spacious room and the decor was lovely. the bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. It is in a city centre and you still get noise from the road although we were back from it. We went down for breakfast at 9.30 as pre arranged the night before only to be told that breakfast stopped at 9.15. After a bit of negotiation Dale the Chef made us our breakfast. Both staff made apologies for the misunderstanding we had a verypleasant and tasty breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and we will no doubt go again

Room Tip: the rooms at the rear will be quieter but it is a city centre

stayed for an overnighter to break up a long journey - room clean and cosy, breakfast really nice - catered well for veggies and nice coffee. Staff very helpful but kept in background (as I like it) Excellent value for money. Don't think the negative reviews are fair - unless the manager has taken on board the crits and its changed - but I had no cause for complaint and would def return for a longer trip

Room Tip: back of hotel will be quieter

The hotel seems a little quirky at first as you enter the main building which houses the cafe and restaurant complex with the bedrooms accessed via an outside stairs. However the bedroom was quite roomy and comfortable and the breakfast was very satisfactory in all respects. The location is good although light sleepers with front facing rooms may be disturbed by noise from the busy main road. Otherwise I have no hesitation in recommending for a stopover.

Room Tip: Avoid front facing bedrooms if a light sleeper.

Stayed here one night whilst visiting Lancaster university. Easy walk from the station and into town. Free parking available. Friendly helpful staff, spacious room, good shower and great breakfast. Rooms are above their restaurant which meant a bit of noise for a while in the evening but didn't disturb sleep. At £55 for a double bed and a single and cooked breakfast for two can't be bad!

Entrance to the hotel is through their Tex Mex restaurant where friendly staff do a multitude of tasks. The hotel is on a busy road but my room, #2, is at the back so nice and quiet. The large room had a double and a single bed, big en suite, LCD tv with freeview, plenty of storage, info for the free wifi and stuff for brews. Full English for breakfast, although not a big platefull but nicely cooked. Staff are laid back and relaxed. Great place to stay.
