On arrival we were surprised to find that there was no Hotel private parking. As strangers to the area we received the best advise & guidance from the owner & management as to where to park. Our double room was 'lovely', extremely clean, very well equipped, fantastic shower & bathroom facilities, flat screen T.V with multi channels, very comfortable bed with spotless bedding & a street view which we enjoyed! The bar downstairs was not noisy & certainly did not disturb our stay.Enjoyed a lovely appetising evening meal in the downstairs bar & a lovely substantial self serve breakfast. All in all,for the money, very good value,& considering, new owners of two months, they have achieved a lot & are working hard to constantly improve. We would definitely stay again & wish the owners the very best for future successes....... Lynne & Brian Preston,Lancs

Room Tip: We enjoyed a street view.

Stayed here for two nights recently as a stop-gap for briefly visiting friends.

The hotel itself is above a bar so it's loud there, until late! There's also a very busy street right outside which adds to the noise.

The bar was having a lot of renovation work done to it, which one can only hope extends soon to the hotel, which has the appearance of an extremely run-down Fawlty Towers. A maze of a place, stairs up and down and round and with 'stuff' just dumped all over, like TVs and sofas on landings, sheets on stairs and general mess everywhere.

The room itself was small, facilities basic, there was damp across the ceilings (especially in the shower area) and the shower was dirty to the extent we refused to use it. Plenty of dust around and the nets on the windows were discoloured.

Not a pleasant place to stay, by any means, especially at the price (for which you could probably get a cleaner room at the Travelodge down the road). Honestly, for this place I'd have been happy at around half the price for somewhere to just kip, but felt ripped off at the prices paid.

As an aside, it was advertised as having wi-fi access. I was given two codes for two different access points and neither worked.

It wass a clean hotel but the room was small and basic. It is above a quiet pub on the edge of town, but not far from the town centre - 5 mins walk. The continental style breakfast was again was basic but sufficient - boiled aggs, cereal, fruit toast and tea or coffee. The 'dining room' was downstairs in an unused basement bar which was quite dark and dingy. The barman on arrival was disinterested and unhelpful. This place is fine if you are on a budget or if you just want a base as it is clean. There is no car p0ark but there is an NCP car park just round the back of the hotel.

Do no stay here as it is truly terrible no sleep, dirty and unhelpful staff. I would not recomend here at all £45 prpn was a special deal and i still felt ripped off, their was a whole in the wall the shower didn't work and only the lamp in the room worked, the tv could only pick up bbc1 itv and 4

Room Tip: Do not stop

The hotel was what i was expecting, lower quality and simple. No real issues with anything, the shower was a bit cold in the morning and the rooms were a bit noisy around me but I wasn't looking for an expensive place. Free wifi and a fairly standard breakfast, more than can be said for the Holiday Inn around the corner.

Good location but no parking is downside.Room fine with big bed and room reasonably clean but bed not very comfortable.Continental breakfast average the place is not the cleanest but it is a bar as well.Adequate for cheap overnight stop off but i wouldnt go again.

Room Tip: Ask for room at back as it is opposite railway station
