“Great hotel for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013

Good location, easy to get to from train station (about 4 pounds by cab) very friendly staff welcomed us to Preston and gave us very simple directions to the concert that we came to see (Bill Wyman).
Rooms were nice, clean and all that we needed at a very minimal cost.

Holiday Inn Preston, is located right next to the Preston bus station, which is right in the city centre. So the place wins on location. The continental breakfast served was good but not as great as the one served in Premiere Inn, including the premiere Inn in Preston city centre. Still highly recommended after Premiere Inn

Not the best check in! Room good, with tea/coffee, hair dryer, shower over bath, comfortable bed. Room service excellent (fantastic risotto). Leaving before breakfast started so continental offered for 6.15am, ready and waiting and receptionist & porter insisted on making me tea to take. Definitely stay here again.

Stayed here to break a journey - the hotel is situated on a major road junction, sat nav finds it OK (I normally bypass the town on the M6, so don't know the area).
The main problem here is the lack of car parking at the hotel itself, however, the receptionist very helpfully directed me to the bus station car park and the hotel has a £4.00 parking deal. NOTE : Single ladies will probably not relish using this "facility".
Otherwise, room was good, bar and restaurant staff pleasant and helpful, food good and 0530 checkout rapid and efficient.
Overall OK, but with this major parking caveat

The location is in the city center next to the bus depot, the area does not inspire you to leave the hotel. The hotel's car park is tiny but I was one of the lucky ones who got a space.

Well greeted at reception, room was just what you would expect, without an ironing board. The bar area was nice but then it goes down hill. Not a good beer selection, food was nuked to the point that the heat resembled lava. I was amazed that the bar staff not only never said please or thank you but every conversation with colleagues was "Slagging Off" his employer.

We booked in to the Holiday Inn at Preston for 2 nights as we were attending a function in Preston and thought that we would also include a shopping trip.
The hotel was excellent. The double room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value for money (£10).

Room Tip: Lower numbers are nearer the lift on each floor.

Not the nicest of positions being on the junction of two major roads into town. The entrance can be easily missed as it is right next to the ramp of the multi story car park. Our executive room was on the 7th floor with nice views; the room was a bit of a let down, not very spacious secondary double glazing that steamed up, a bathroom with no expel air, mattress sunk and we'll worn in the middle and only one complementary bottle of still water...not exactly executive. The bar looked promising but unfortunately a group associated with the visiting football team made the bar area noisy; this I feel could have been managed better if more staff were present. Later in the night when we returned for a nightcap I had to wait for over ten minutes before the receptionist changed hats and became the barman. I don't think this is safe practice especially if someone is taken ill upstairs and the receptionist is picking up empty glasses around the bar.

Dear Tracy G,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay at our hotel, Holiday Inn Preston.

You feedback has been shared with the team to explore ways of any improvements.

Just to confirm we do not have executive rooms at our hotel, all our rooms are the same standard. For recognition our IHG reward members are offered IHG complimentary drinks and snack packs or points on check in, following the new standards set from 1st October.

We always have 2 nights team members on duty, who ensure one team member attends to guests requirements from a check in and food and beverage requirement and one team member attends to floor walks for security and well being of our guests, with a senior manager on call should further support is required.

We hope you choose to stay with us again.
