“TRULY AWFUL!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

We called in here for a spot of lunch as we were passing and felt the need for some simple sustenance BIG mistake; fish chips and peas, simple enough we thought can't go wrong with that can we? The chips had been cooked then re heated and perhaps again and again, truly awful, the fish was soggy and unpleasant, and the peas dried up. Yes it was inexpensive, but if you can't do it right don't do it at all, please give it up and find something else to earn your living, because you can't run an eating place.

“Management need re-training !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We thought we'd try the Chicken Tikka - DON'T BOTHER !!
It was awful - the poppadom was half chewy and the other half had been
squashed by the balti dish. The naan bread was rubbery at one end
- a sure sign of being over heated in a microwave.
The chicken dish itself was tasteless and just about warm enough
although the metal balti dish itself was COLD. The pilau rice
was tasteless too.
Having paid £20.53 (incl a couple of beers) we left feeling
miserable and hungry.
SORT YOURSELVES OUT - it could be a nice pub.
By the way - don't be lazy, take down the sign that promises
"Two for £10" because this was a Saturday and the offer is
only valid Monday to Friday. AND - the ashtrays outside need
emptying.

“Service excelllent with a smile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Having been out for the day to Cobble Hey Farm with my daughter, husband and two grandchildren, we (6 of us) decided to call here on our way back home to Manchester.
We were not disappointed. We chose a selection of different meals from the menu and no one
was disappointed. The carvery (which 3 of us chose) was to die for. Unfortulately I left my purse
on the seat which I was sitting on, but to no avail, when I realized once I had got home and rang
the pub, the landlady said one of the staff had found it and handed it in. So the following day we returned to the Boars Head and collected it. All the staff could not have been more helpful and obliging and hope one day in the near future to return.
