“bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Visited the Restaurant this evening. Had invited someone to join me, and felt embarrassed by the whole experience. We had to ask if we could have a look at menus. There was no one around who seemed to care whether we were dining or not.
Friend ordered lamb shoulder, which consisted of huge bone and a third fat, with a little meat clinging to the edge. When we complained and reordered a Fish Pie. Couldn't believe my eyes when the plate arrived. There was cabbage, peas, carrots, new potatoes and little piece of grey fish.I complained again and explained that she couldn't eat the dish. The manager seemed not to care and refused to take the meal of the bill, even though she hadn't eaten it. Her explanation was that she had replaced one meal. Doh! Will not go again.

“Appaling”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Visited a few Sundays ago for lunch with relatives (their recommendation). Ordered "roast platter" for 2. Arrived cold, Pigs in blanket apparently had not been cooked at all. Complained but no response from staff. So different from The Wyke Arms (also a Vintage Inn we had visited the night before) difficult to understand that they belong to the same group. Avoid

“Don't be fooled by the exterior”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

We was pleasantly surprised by the lovely decor of this country pub and was looking forward to our meal.. At £5 we decided to share the cheesey garlic flat bread which was like a rock bun with cheese spread, not impressed especially when the girl serving us just shoved it on the table without saying anything or a smile! My boyfriend decided to have the boar and chorizo burger which arrived cold! Not very tasty and he only ate it because he was hungry! I had the gammon with mash potato, the gammon was fatty, the pineapple was burnt and the peas and mash was obviously not fresh! the service was terrible, no welcome, no courtesy check, no smiles and sat with finished plates for 10 minutes. Service was that poor I'm surprised they said sorry! Will not be returning.

“The food was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Just returned to the Broughton Inn for a second time and the food was excellent. The meats were cooked well and very tender. The menu is varied with specials different each time we went. The beer choices, wine choices are good and not too expensive. Well worth a visit.

We have just booked for a party of 20 for a birthday and will hopefully be well fed.

“Lunch 5th July 2014”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

Still an excellent establishment & good food. Service very good, however they seemed to have adopted a policy that if you sit in the Bar Area a waiter won't come to you. Two of us went for lunch & we each had a £5 discount voucher & were told that it was only one per visit. This was not written on the voucher, what it actually said was "only one voucher per guest" so two guests, two vouchers, which they allowed but said they had been instructed one per visit. This anomaly needs to be sorted out.
