“what a nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

stayed here for one night the week of the chelteham races the hotel was already picked for us as we were on a coach trip to the races we were pleasantly surprised our room on the second floor was clean quiet and warm which we appreciated due to the fact it had been freezing at the races. The staff were pleasant and helpful our evening meal was excellant and the same can be said for our breakfast plenty of choices. We would stay here again if we were stopping in the area no problem. The bed was one of the comfiest we have ever slept in pure heaven!

We picked this hotel as a stopover on a Friday as we had an early flight from BHX. The hotel itself is just 10 minutes from the airport and NEC but has a perfect location central to Solihull. Its just a 2 minute walk to the shopping centre and high street where there are a choice of shops, late opening restaurants and a cinema. On arrival the decor of the lobby and bar area is a little dated and could do with a spruce up, however the lady on reception welcomed us with warm smile. Our Priority Club status wasn't acknowledged but our request during the online booking for a quiet top floor room was taken care of without asking. The room was large, quiet and clean but the highlight of the room was the comfy bed which made for a great nights sleep. We didnt eat at the hotels restaurant but we did order drinks and an amazing Eton Mess as the bar. Check out was also smooth. We'll definitely be back and recommend the hotel for Solihull, the airport or the NEC. Only one gripe, why in this day and age is the in-room Internet not free, especially for leisure travelers at the weekend at least?

Room Tip: A 3rd floor room on the lake side is very quiet.

Dear Guest

I was delighted to hear that you received a warm welcome and found our location to be convenient for the NEC.

I apologise for our not recognising you as a Priority Club Member and have passed this onto our Reception Manager who will ensure that your status is noted for future stays.

We stopped at Holiday Inn Solihull during 'Crufts' loads of dogs staying there but unfazed staff. Helpful and friendly. Even though lots of dogs there was little sign of them so didn't bother non-doggy guests.
For dog owners its useful to know there's a huge park just down the path & over the road. take your 'poo bags' though & be a responsible dog owner!
We had an evening meal in the restaurant purely for convenience. It was clean, staff were helpful and the food up to 'gastropub' standard.

Room Tip: Rooms at front a little noisier than back, however club over the road seemed to go quiet about 1200...

Everything you would expect to get at a hotel of this standard.
Arrived to a friendly reception team who checked me in swiftly and efficiently. definitely well trained as it was quick, but all facilities covered and all questioned answered.

I got my room which was clean and looked like it was recently refurbished the bathroom was lovely, bright and clean.

Arrived quite late so just unpacked and went downstairs to have some dinner. went to the bar which was busy. the menu was good and chose to have the curry which was tasty and arrived in good time.

the next morning I had to go the local PEO office nearby and got directions from the receptionist who said I could leave my car in the car park as it was walking distance away. very handy! returned at about 11am, got my parking validated and off I went.

would definitely return if I was in the area again.

thumbs up from me!

Having stayed here several times, I have always been disappointed with the evening meal quality.
I am pleased to say, it is now really good, well cooked wholesome food.
Used the swimming pool, sauna and steam room, everything was well maintained.
I have a small concern that the sauna room is really small, and the hot coals are not protected by a screen. Anyone falling on the top deck wet seats could fall on them.
The wine selection was good.
The room as ever was clean, warm and in the bathroom there are beautiful towels
It is really unrealistic to fault this hotel and can recommend that you stay at this hotel

The room was very comfortable and spacious. The staff were excellent, very helpful, very responsive to requests. It's a pity there's no free wifi in the rooms. We had just come from a Hilton where this was included in the price.

The location is good with the hotel being in walking distance of a large shopping mall which has a range of restaurants.

We were thee as part of a large group and I feel we were well looked after.

When will hotel management realise that guests that pay large sums of money to stay in their hotels, really resent being charged to park their cars overnight?
Will find another Hotel next time that is car friendly.
