“Awful room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

We must have been allocated the worst room in the hotel. It was tiny, no room to move about and dirty to boot. The door opened straight onto the court yard outside and was so badly fitting that anything the size of a mouse or less could have joined us for the night. Later I sent two emails to complain but had no response then wrote a personal letter to the MD of Relax Innz and still even not an acknowledgement. So if you stay here and anything goes wrong don't expect even a normal standard of customer care.

Just got back from a weekend break staying at the Tudor House Hotel with friends. What a great place to relax, unwind and catch up. Friendly, helpful staff and I must make a special mention of the General Manager (unfortunately didnt catch his name), absolutely first class when it comes to customer realtions and whats more a man who really knows his beers.

We stayed 2 nights and just didnt feel the need to go anywhere else to eat, the variety on the menu and the quality of food when served in my opinion represented excellent value for money. The pies were obviously homemade, the Chicken, Bacon & Leek was quite superb and the fish served (fish & chips) was more like a whale.

The hand pulled real ales are excellent value, a pint of Butcome for £2.25, where else are you going to get that?

Our room (16) was light, airy and spacious and full of character (exposed beams) etc, the only reason I wouldnt give it full marks was that the cleanliness of the bathroom left a little bit to be desired but not enough to make a fuss about.

If we`re ever back in that part of the world we`ll stay at the Tudor House Hotel (providing its current management team are still there).

Great staff, great food and great beer, just what you want for a weekend break.

We stayed locally and visited the Tudor House Hotel twice during our stay as we enjoyed it so much the first time.

We ordered off the Bar menu although the restaurant menu was varied and well priced.

All food was obviously freshly cooked and of very good quality. The pie of the week was a great hit and had run out by our second visit.

Great service at a sensible price with excellent food!!

whilst touring my wife and I booked in to this hotel because it was the first we saw, The reception was great and we were offered the Adam Suite and wow were we surprised a luxury suite with a four poster bed. Everything in this hotel was close to perfect and we extended for a second night. The breakfast was sufficient and well presented and was also complimentary.

We had Sunday lunch in the Tudor House hotel, we could order off the main menu as well as the sunday lunch and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and the order came out very quickly, everything was well cooked and the portions were very generous.
Overall I would say we had excellent value for money, we sat in one of the little snug corners and had a lovely relaxing meal.

We stayed here for 3 nights and did not see or hear any ghosts - even though it's a very old building with lots of creaking boards and crooked walls. We moved rooms after the first night - because we arrived a day early so had a room other than the one we had reserved. Both rooms were of a good size, with comfortable bed and central heating (it was still cold), and an adequate en suite. Our rooms were quiet, they did not overlook the high street, which may have been noisy. Breakfast was ok. On site parking is available behind the hotel. The hotel is in a good location at one of the high street. We did not use the restaurant, because were visiting relatives in the town. We would recommend this hotel if you want to be in the town - it's reasonable value for money.

Room Tip: We suspect rooms at the front of the hotel may be noisy , as they overlook the highstreet

We had a four night stay in room 20 (the four poster room) upon our arrival the staff were very friendly and let us into our room early as we arrived at 12:30 and we should have arrived after 14:00.. We were not shown to our room, just given the key and told it was adjacent to the car park.
The room was not in the main building but in an annex on the car park, which we were not expecting, it was very quiet, but the room was in need of good dusting and it was not hoovered at all during our four night stay,
The room itself was depressing devoid of any decorative features, the canopy on the four poster bed was hanging off on one corner, the person on the left hand side of the bed had the view of the TV completely cut in half by the pillar of the four poster, one of the bedside lights did not work (it was not the bulb as I tried it in the other lamp and it worked) but it has a nice view over the river.
The handle on the bath was missing leaving two studs sticking out which if you caught yourself on it could cause a nasty injury. also there are no surfaces or shelves in the bathroom for your toiletries etc.
There is no Internet connection at all in the Annex but there are lots of plug sockets.
Outside the main entry door to the annex was a container full of cigarette ends which emitted quite a stench and looked very unsightly and was not emptied during our four night stay. The guttering above the entrance to the annex was blocked and when it rain it was like walking through a waterfall.
Whilst we managed to park our car on the car park there is not enough places for everyone when the hotel is full and is very tight.
All aspects of the breakfast were excellent including service, presentation and of course food.
