“Vegetable skewers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

First the positives.
Location is great, amazing views and not too far from Tewksbury.
Public areas are spacious and a nice place to read and have a drink.
Rooms not bad but my bathroom was tiny.
Now the food...
Vegetarian options are always limited and usually unimaginative and boring but Sunday evening gets the gold star worst vegetarian meal experience ever.
I chose my vegetables on skewers at breakfast and requested halloumi cheese to make it a main meal rather than a side dish. One hour before dinner I reminded the waitress to tell chef that I dont want a side dish...at dinner I was informed they had no cheese...10 minutes later I got vegetables sprinkled in parmesan cheese.
I have about 10 vegetarian cookbooks I would gladly give the chef. Not one has vegetables sprinkled with parmesan.
Please consider your vegetarian guests and dont fob them off with NVQ Level 1 cooking.

Stayed originally for 4 nights but enjoyed so much we extended for 2 more nights. Lovely and convenient location. Tranquil setting with lovely 360 degrees views.Friendly staff, close to town but far enough away to feel you are fully in the country. Rooms more than adequate. Very good breakfasts in a well set out room. Thoroughly recommend the hotel

Room Tip: ask for one overlooking the golf course

Very average hotel with average facilities, staff were helpful but the hotel a let down. No lift to rooms and ours was quite a walk and up 3 flights of stairs with a disabled person. The pool and spa area were closed so couldn't comment. Very disjointed doubt I would stay again. Recommend for golfers only.

We booked this through Wowcher for £39 and then paid for another night which was £79.00. We had a thoroughly nice stay. We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews and I have to say I even thought of not going but we did and I am glad. The staff were lovely they couldn't have been more helpful. The bar areas were really nice and the breakfast was good. Our room was in an annexe block and yes it was a bit tired and they do definitely need a makeover but most importantly they were clean. Our break did allow us a game of golf which we didn't take due to bad weather and use of the spa which I did use and again it is very tired and perhaps could do with a good clean but for a couple of days was fine.
The area around is lovely, unfortunately we had grotty weather back at the beginning of June so didn't see things at their best. Tewkesbury was very nice indeed for a few days break and we went to Bourton on the Water and Stratford upon Avon which were lovely although very wet.
I can see that in its day this hotel must have been stunning with the views over Tewkesbury and the golf course and I am sure someone will give it the makeover it needs one day. I don't think it can really call itself a 4 star hotel in its present state perhaps a 3 star would be more realistic.

Lovely setting great for golf, walking or relaxing. Clean room with comfortable bed. Hotel needs updating and redecorating, carpets very worn. We had a golf lesson and a massage and both was very good. Breakfast was OK tables didn't get cleared very quick but food was not bad and staff was pleasant. Overall an enjoyable stay and work did seem to be in progress so hopefully it is on the up. Sadly at the moment definitely not a four star.

This is the worst 4 star hotel I have stayed in. Rooms very average and not cleaned properly.
£12.95 breakfast very poor and not hot, a waste of money. Staff not very friendly and welcoming.
No atmosphere. No lift to rooms, having to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to room is not for disabled people.

Room Tip: Don't bother staying at this hotel, unless you enjoy golf.

Rooms are tired and dated. Carpet was stuck down with parcel tape.
Food was overpriced and inot very nice plus they got my order wrong so i ended up with chicken instead of pork.
Spa facilities were awful tiny pool and the whole place looked dirty and needs a revamp.
Back massage was lovely and beauty therapist very nice.
Asked to speak to the manager on check out as this is the second unlpeasant experience weve had there, gentleman behind reception said he would contact us via email however this never happened. Have called several times and been promised the manager will get back to me, again im still waiting and we stayed in June!
Awful experience can see why they sell it on groupon/wowcher for £39.00 as its the only way to get guests through the door.
