“Great Walks and Family Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

W set off for a stroll through the park following recent bouts of rain. The park is excellent with mny places to explore and walk. You can walk down by the river or just around the park itself. When we went we couldn't get far along the river due to recent flooding but you could see how good the walk would be on a dry sunny day. The park has a lot going off for the kids and something for the older brigade too. The cafe just inside the park (Cha Cha Cha) is such a good little cafe. The staff are very friendly and the food is all home made. Great place to go either before, during or after your walk.

“Great walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

A circular walk along the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal is lovely. Lots of wild birds and some ancient trees.

“Large popular park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Cassiobury Park is a large and popular landscaped green space on the edge of Watford town centre. It was created by the local council in 1909 from the purchase of land belonging to Cassiobury House, a large country house dating from the Tudor period. The house and land had belonged to the Earls of Essex, who in the early 20th century found they could no longer maintain the house. Eventually the house was demolished, and all the land was sold. The house itself stood where the tennis courts are between Parkside Drive and Temple Close. The stables remain, and have been converted into an old people's home in Richmond Drive.

The park starts off at the Eastern end with a fairly narrow, formal entrance on Rickmansworth Road, then gradually opens up, until it reaches the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal on the Western end, where it merges with Cassiobury park Nature Reserve.

The annual Watford Half Marathon in February starts and finishes in the park.

“Beautiful Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Big green haven near the heart of Watford! The park has big open fields for kids and pets to play on and walking paths set up along the river and canal and back into Wippendell Woods. There is a children's play area and play pool (only during summer months). Don't miss out on the fireworks on Bonfire Night!

“Watford park and woods”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I love this park summer and winter, having walked my dogs around it every day for years. Beautiful open spaces with a really good cafe (Cha Cha) with a small playground attached leading down to the river and the canal and Whippendell Woods on the other side.
Lovely large fenced area paddling pool (summer only ).
