“Decent hotel for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I like Holiday Inn Express for predictability. It's like McDonald's, you know what you get, regardless of location. This HIE is no exception. The hotel is clean, helpful staff, room seemed to be bigger than other HIE's I've stayed at but this may be due to the different bed configuration.

The only real issue I had was with the internet connection. In the room, you only get a wired connection, which was down the whole time I was staying there, i.e. overnight. There is wireless in the lobby but it doesn't seem to work with iPass.

Breakfast was pretty standard for HIE, I was disappointed by the complete lack of vegetables. I wish HIEs would add them to the menu. Otherwise, anyone with gluten issues has to stick with eggs and sausages only. Having read the reviews, I passed on the orange juice but my colleague didn't listen and said it was "toxic". :)

Summarizing, I do recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: You can hear the train, if the room is facing the station. It's not super loud but if you have i...

Dear Guest

Thank you for your comments and recommending us. You are right, Holiday Inn Express set by the standards of IHG which we have to adhere to. However these standards ensure a consistency and the quality of product services we provide. Please be advised that Holiday Inn Express is the only hotel that offers complimentary breakfast consisting of a variety of continental breakfast menu with three hot items. Taking in consideration your comment about the juice, we would like to let you know that we are in a process of changing supplier.

Our Internet service is very popular with guests and I am sorry you had some connection issues – we are currently installing a new system which resolves these issues and although this does not make up for your issues we will ensure that the service provided will be better on your next visit.

Kind regards,

Natalija

I had a great opportunity to spend 3 days ,2 nights in your hotel recently for attending a training course in your locality. It was a pleasant stay. The ambiance of your hotel is nice, staff very helpful , rooms are comfortable.
The location is ideal, proximity to railway station and luckily my training venue was also nearby. The Duty Manager 'Alex' and members of reception staff went out of the way to help me with the room allocation and in my visit of interesting places nearby.

Wishing a visit once again in the earliest opportunity.
Thanks

We booked in order to visit the HP studios. We paid £51 for the spotlessly clean room and that included a serve yourself breakfast. Excellent value. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel but we heard no trains and I'm a light sleeper. Reception staff quiet but helpful and being able to leave luggage was great. Hotel is closest to station and was super value. We all agreed we would add this review even though we have never left one before because we were so impressed. Kids bed on floor was fine, comfy even. No complaints here; give it a go.

Just returned following a one night stay.
Had problems trying to find the car park, which is very small and if you arrive late, i would suggest you would have trouble getting a space.
Receptionists polite and when asked if a taxi could be booked for later, actioned request straight away.
Room was basic, but clean and no problems at all with either the bed or pillows.
Stayed in room 301 which was very quiet and no noise from either the road or the station.
Did not have time for breakfast in the morning, so can't comment on that.
It's ok for a one night stay, but I wouldn't want to stay any longer.

Stayed for 2 nights. Clear and well maintained room. Quiet area with a small amount of train noise (we were on the main entrance side of the building). Breakfast was ample to start you off for the day. Would use the hotel again and recommend to others.

2 minutes from the station and the Harry Potter shuttle bus stops outside the station.

Town centre is 10 minuteqs walk away. The hotel has a small meal menu but there is a excellent Chinese restaurant in the next street.

I booked and paid for this hotel online so I was very pleased with the easy check in and check out. I was offered a tab to open if I wanted but only with a credit card. The very friendly male receptionist tried to explain to me why I couldn't use a debit card instead of a credit card but it was all very complicated so I just opted to pay cash for our food and drinks instead. Room was comfortable and furnished as you would expect from Holiday Inn Express, Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Breakfast wasn't anything to write home about , fruit juice was disgusting but there was plenty of choice...again I wasn't expecting anything more from a Holiday Inn Express.
We were pleased to see there was a small evening meal menu as we were a bit wary of venturing out at night in an area we didn't know. The food off the menu was fine - my daughter had the pasta and I had the curry. The hotel was ideally situated for the Warner Bros Studios- 2 mins walk from the shuttlebus which leaves every 30 mins. The outstanding feature of the hotel was the one man who was working as receptionist, barman, waiter and always had a smile for us.
