“Beefeater not having any beef?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Its a beefeater, what more can you say.
But I went here the weekend and pretty much all the beef on the menu had run out. a handful of steaks were left, no burgers. and it appeared that the menu had shrunk somewhat, most of one page was just to highlight burgers and steaks, which they didn't have.
its always great for Familes to go to though and the kids love the meals.

“Very impressed - much better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

I must say it's been a while since I've eaten in a Beefeater and something I would normally avoid as a default, but arriving at the Premier Inn next door at 8.30pm we decided to go to the Malta Inn for a quick bite to eat. How surprised we were! The interior is set out nicely with lots of areas you can go to and feel some level of privacy - it's set over 2 levels with dining focussed area upstairs (although you can eat anywhere) and a more bar like area downstairs. Decor is quite nice.
Bar staff were available straight away even though it was fairly busy and they had selection of some real ales (Spitfire and Hobgoblin) as well as nice wines and other standard drinks.
We ordered a bottle of Chateau Neuf Du Pape at £18.99 which was a reasonable price.
The menu is rather limited with the obvious direction encouraging you to have the steak - so we did. It was cooked to perfection! I have had much worse steaks in supposedly "good" restaurants. Chips were lovely but salad came covered with blue cheese dressing so I would advise swapping for side salad if you're not into this. Fairly full after this we did not indulge in dessert, but after a while did order cheese & biscuits, which again were good portion and well done.
This has changed my preconceptions about these sort of places and whilst I'm sure they're not all up to this standard I would certainly return here if staying in the area.
The back of the restaurant looks straight on to a canal or river lock and there's plenty of outside seating, so I can imagine it's very popular in the summer too.

“Birthday Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I was taken to the Malta Inn Beefeater grill to celebrate my Birthday.
We had a superb meal, well presented and our waitress was the essence of politeness - and most helpful.

“Great breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We had breakfast here after staying at the hotel next door, we arrived as a large group unannounced and they were not phased, breakfast is great, full english available as you like it as well as continental. Kids eat free which was a bonus. The Pub is also lovely in Summer evenings.
