“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

Not a lover of castles and stately homes but this is certainly worth a visit !!!
Beautiful grounds with an abundance of ducks , geese and the famous black swans .
Great picnic areas around the moat and gardens .
Falconry exhibition was a bit tame .
Great maize and tunnelled exit.
The refreshments could do with organising and adding staff for busy periods.
The castle was very interesting and well presented with good access .
A great family day out .

“Excellent and well worth a visit to English history.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Everything was good. Very rich in the history of England. Beautiful grounds and most interesting wild life. Pity about the scaffolding but these things have to be done and its only temporay.

“One of the most attractive castle I've ever visited in England”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We had this really interesting day at Leeds castle and Canterbury cathedral. The scenery is so classic. We went on this trip with Golden Tours and our guide Tish Marchant made the day even more interesting with information about the castle and its history. Even if you only have a short time in England, you should not miss this trip.

“A jewel in Kent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Leeds Castle is one of the many historic places to visit in Kent; it's famous also for its gardens (flowers, trees), its black (and white) swans, etc... You can spend the day there, visiting, relaxing, it's a wonderful place to be (of course it's much better under the sun than in the rain). I would certainly return to the castle.

“best part of a long day trip from London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Leeds Castle turned out to be the best part of a long day trip from London. We enjoyed several hours here and surely would have made an entire day of our visit if we did not have to rejoin our tour group straightaway. Alan, our guide, was a most informative host who enhanced the visit with his profound knowledge of this 12th century castle. The complimentary mead offered us in the library was a great show of hospitality. The entire castle, inside and out, is like the set of an epic movie--too picturesque for words. When we booked this tour, we had no idea how wonderful this place would be. The tour through the interior of the castle was extensive, and room by room, we saw a great deal of the structure. The medieval appointments of the bedrooms and even the bathrooms were fascinating. A 14th century Burgundian limestone statue of Saint Barbara was especially memorable. There are 17th century paintings by noted artists. The signage posted throughout the castle in certain rooms of particular interest was a help in learning historical details, too. There's even a piece of stained glass from Canterbury Cathedral! We wish we had a few hours to cover the grounds better, as we spent most of our time inside. In few words, this place just knocked our socks off! Wish we can return some day. A tip for a day trip from London: if you have a chance, do it!
