Stayed at the Encore for the second time. I've learnt that there is parking around the hotel on the other side of the road, so no need to pay 10 quid to park in the hotel's parking. As I learnt when staying at Jury's hotel next door, make sure you feed the parking meter the night before. The traffic wardens are queuing up to write tickets from 7 am.
The Ramada Encore is ok. Probably not quite as nice as Jury's but it wasn't bad. I had an executive room that came with a free pack of Pringles and bar of Dairy Milk. Life as a executive really does come loaded with calories. Yum. Free wifi was thrown in with the executive room too.
The room was nice, if a bit basic, but clean and functional. The TV was a bit old school as it was an old square TV. This meant that any wide screen programmes (which most are nowadays) had the ends cut off.
I had Salmon in the restaurant and unfortunately it was probably the worst meal I have had in a hotel. They must have put the salmon on to cook the week before I arrived as it was so over cooked and dry. It was served on a handful of rocket with 6 slices of apple, one of which was bruised to a nice grey colour. The whole meal was then covered in lemon juice. I was so hungry afterwards that I ordered a pudding. The apple and calvados tart was microwaved so that the pastry was really soggy. I think the whole meal cost around 23 pounds and was not good value.
Breakfast was standard hotel fayre and ok.
So in summary, the rooms are fine, but with so many restaurants around the hotel, you'd be better off going elsewhere to eat.

Your feedback is very important to us, I am pleased to read that you found the hotel clean and good value for money. However I am surprised and saddened to read that your experience in the restaurant was below your expectations. The Salmon is one of our most popular meals and we always have received fantastic reviews so far. Please allow me to express my apologies for the overcooked Salmon and bruised apple. I have passed these comments onto the Food & Manager Manager and the Head Chef to investigate, as this does not sound like our usual practice.
