The Ramada Encore, at Milton Keynes, is modern, spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly. Laminate flooring, rails and open shelving instead of wardrobes and cupboards give it a streamline look. There is plenty of coffee and tea but no individual toiletries. The breakfast is only adequate but it did come free some I’m not complaining. The lobby is sterile but the friendliness and helpfulness of the receptionist made up for that. It’s located only minutes away from the MK shopping centre (huge) and there are a couple of bars at either side of the hotel. At the back of the hotel is a delightful square (at night anyway) with a fountain and various restaurants. We ate at Las Iguanas and I can recommend it.

The hotel is not luxury by any means but it is pleasant, clean and reasonably cheap. The downside was the private party in the bar on the floor below. It was very loud and kept us awake until the early hours. We should have been warned or located further away.

  • Liked — Good value, clean and well located
  • Disliked — A loud bar area that can be heard on the floor above

I am regularly in Milton Keynes for business and this is my hotel of choice.
The previous reviews pretty much say it all. The hotel is clean and modern. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
I agree that the hotel is a bit soulless, but it is a business hotel in Milton Keynes after all. It's quiet and comfortable, which is what matters to me after a long day at work.
The multi-storey car park is about 20 yards from the hotel door and costs £5 a night, which you pay as part of your bill. You can usually get a space on the ground floor. Note that the car park closes between midnight and 6am (I think) so you won't be able to get your car out during these times, should you need to.
Also note that you need a pin code to get into the car park, so park your car outside the hotel, and get the code from reception. I've seen a few people blocking the barrier (not me, I hasten to add) because they haven't known this.

Location is excellent. Plenty of restaurants around, plus a few pubs. The Wetherspoons further down Midsummer Boulevard towards the station is bigger and has a better selection than the one immediately next door. The nearest cash machine is down there too.

We booked over the internet, and saved ourselves £10 per night on the walk-up price. The hotel has no parking, but there is a multi storey car park just next door, and there is free on-street parking over the weekend.

The room was clean, and fresh, as was the hotel, but it was all slightly soul-less, with no real atmosphere. It is situated amongst a number of other hotels (Jury Inn etc) which means there is a reasonable choice of bars and restaurants nearby. We didn't enjoy the food in the smokehouse in the Jury Inn complex very much. Breakfast was served on the 1st floor in the bar/restaurant/wifi enabled zone, and was buffet style with continental and hot options available.

There was a mix up with the bill, which we didn't realise until we got home, with a double charge for breakfast. After a phone call this was resolved.

All in all, good value for money.

I stayed here for Business over Two nights in November and, found the hotel to be more than adequate. Its located a short distance from the train station and, the shopping centre, however the entrance is at the back of the building but, as long as you know this your fine.

The reception staff were always friendly in all my dealings with them and, my room was large enough and, had most of the amenities I required, cable TV, Power shower, Tea & Coffee making facilities. The 'Closet however is a couple of rods sticking out from the wall which I found limiting if you were staying more than two nights and, there were two people in the room.

The only problems were that they only have limited Iron & Ironing boards and, so they go quite early in the evening and, do not track where they are sent (so it makes it difficult for them to retrieve them so someone else can use) Whilst I was there the Internet did not work in the room as there was a problem with the server.

To use the internet I had to go to the hotels bar/restaurant area where WiFi is free and, it is quite comfortable for doing work or just mooching watching TV on teh big screen whilst haveing a beer.

The Restaurant food was better than I had expected as was breakfast and, the staff were very attentive and, more pleasant & anticipative than I have experienced in some finer dining establishments and, hotels! Special mention goes to the breakfast staff who got me off to a great start each morning with a smile!

Overall the hotel was great and, I would recommend it if you were staying in Milton Keynes maybe even for an Indoor Ski Holiday at the nearby ski centre........

I stayed in the Encore Ramada for 3 nights on a business trip & thought it was very good overall.
The hotel is pretty new & modern, everything was clean & bright.
My room was good, very clean, the bed was particularly comfortable. One thing about the room - it had wooden floors, no carpet, which I thought might cause a noise problem from above or next door, but I didn't notice it at all.
The bathroom was, again, nice & clean & modern with a decent shower, (no bath).
The hotel is well situated, with 2 or 3 bars right outside (All Bar One & a Wetherspoons) & it's a 5 minute walk from the main shopping centre, passing Chinese & Italian restaurants on the way (not tried).
I had breakfast in the hotel, which was good - buffet style, no mushrooms, but excellent sausages I thought! Didn't try any other meals there, I went to the bar/restaurant which is attached to the hotel (Sam & Max's?) which was quite good - £13.80 for 2 courses & around £2.90 for a pint. There was a 10% off voucher for this place in the room.
The Xscape centre is around 15 - 20 minutes away on foot & has a multiscreen cinema, some restaurants bars & clubs.
Parking was available in the car park right next door for £5 a day. The hotel website says spaces are limited, but I had no problems & there seemed to be plenty of spaces.
I did notice there was building work going on at the back of the hotel, but this didn't disturb me at all.
All the staff I spoke to were very pleasant & helpful.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here & would certainly look to book again if I am in MK in the future.
