“decent enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Stayed on 10th Aug on way to ford fair. Great rooms, bar and restaurant. Staff helpful and friendly. Great location. Bit of a wait for food on sat night , but it was very busy. All in all a cheap, decent place to kip.

Standard Premier Inn - consistent rooms, decor, duvets etc. fans provided. very clean. Allocated a room above the ground floor as requested.

There were a couple of issues with the room, including some intermittent smoke from the beer garden below, but I was moved as soon as I asked. Very helpful staff - particularly Tom - would stay here again.

The breakfast we got was poor quality and the service obviously unwilling. Unfortunately, there was no AC in our room, and we had to leave window open for fresh air, but the noise from the hotel pub was unbearable and kept us from sleeping.

An old premier inn but very nice with a bit of character. Very friendly staff and a good Fayre and Square restaurant attached it. Ideal for going to Woburn Safari Park. Breakfast a little early if you didn't have to be out too early but all very nice. Restaurant very cheap but the food was really good. The only issue we had was the coke from the pump was flat and although they had bottles these were warm.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I had requested a view of the lake and was given a 2nd floor room. The room has narrow French windows with restricted opening for security. Pleasant view though also overlooked the pub terrace, which was quite noisy on a busy summer evening and a pond(?) which is full of algae. I had wanted a shower before bed and was unable to work the mechanism and ended up having to have a bath as I did not want staff coming to the room to sort it out so late at night when I had undressed. The room was usual Premier Inn good standard. The restaurant was a big disappointment. I had arrived late on the first night and didn't want to travel to a restaurant. The hotel caters for travelling workmen and business people and the menu for the Fayre and Square restaurant was more quantity over quality. 2 for £10 offers etc and enormous portions, nothing light and healthy. The service left a lot to be desired. Breakfast buffet was good and nice fresh fruit bowl. Flies around the bread. I had a long wait when the buffet ran out of bacon, though the waitress did offer to bring it over later, which I appreciated. Had a very pleasant walk around the lake before dinner on the second day and drove out to eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Second floor has a view of the lake on one side of the hotel, though this will also overlook the pub...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Our Aussie group found the accommodation was the expected good Premier Inn standard. Quiet position ... lovely on a summer's day. Beds good. Water pressure in showers a bit low. Staff assistance and cordiality excellent. Rooms serviced daily. The Pub adjoining was a good standard for breakfasts; a little noisier and Pub-like at night, but good food. A jog around the man-made lake was nice, but I agree they could do with flowing water through the ponds at the hotel itself - algae a bit disappointing with such great potential. Advance purchase, non-refundable, is risky ... but helps with costs. And a mistake we'd made with a room too many was not held against us. Thanks PI!
