Though I haven't visited the Excellecy's buffet, I have attended quite a few weddings at this venue. The decor and atmosphere is always rather nice, though at times it can feel rather cramped when tables are put into close proximity to one another; if there is a large guest list.
However, this is all severely letdown by the in-house catering service. Pasta entrees are tangy- not in a good way, the salad tasteless and the curries; ok but quite oily and you'd expect it to be of a higher standard.
Usually the starters are quite acceptable but after the wedding I had attended this week my opinion has changed. The fish kebab things were remarkably average but the roast/ tandoori chicken was one of the worse things I've had to eat- not that I managed to eat much of it. The outer marinated layer of my chicken was ok- not overly flavoursome but it did look slighltly pink and upon further exploration, red and bloody. Someone tried to tell me that it was 'just food colouring', but the meat and Veins within the chicken were horrifically bloody. I thought maybe my chicken was an anomaly but looking at the pinkish chicken on the plate of other guests, it was not. I didn't want to chance the leg of lamb- which mostly consisted of a giant bone and not much meat at all.
As I mentioned before the decor can be absolutely beautiful. But if you are considering having your wedding at this venue, I'd strongly suggest that you opt for another catering service and not the in-house catering.
