“Great for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Just spent a night there and have no complaints. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom and a really good buffet breakfast. Evening meal at the nearby Holiday Inn is advised. Would definately stay here again when visiting the Ironbridge area.

Thank you for your review and I'm pleased you felt your stay was good value. Its certainly ideal to walk across to the neighbouring Holiday Inn for an evening meal in the Olive Tree restaurant or Olive Branch bar. There are menu styles to suit all occasions.

We chose this hotel as the rates were very reasonable, the reviews were favourable and the location convenient.

First impressions were of a modern hotel of fairly typical design. Hospitable staff at the check-in desk, pleasant lobby.

The rooms are of a decent overall size with large firm beds and a walk-in shower with responsive controls. The usual flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities, wha you would expect from a 3 star property.

One bonus is the quiet position, despite it's proximity to the International centre and the Holiday Inn, with which it shares the car park (free of charge!).

Breakfast was of continental type with a good selection that included Bacon, cereals, fruit yoghurt, crumpets (a rarity!). You can upgrade to a Full English, if desired. Comprehensive selection of hot beverages from the dispensing machine.

If you require a clean hotel in the Ironbridge area (only 10 km away) this is ideal and a cheaper option than other branded hotels in the vicinity.

Pros:- Quite, clean, convenient, basic but wholesome breakfast, free parking
Cons:- Few facilities (use of the leisure facilities at the Holiday incurs a charge).

Thank you so much for your lovely review and I'm glad you had an enjoyable weekend stay with us. Our hotel is in a relatively quiet location yet on the edge of the International Centre and the main shopping centre. We share our car park with our neighbour Holiday Inn Telford, and there are plentiful, free spaces there for our guests.
We hope to welcome you back soon.

On arrival, we where met by the most friendliest receptionist I,very ever met, she was brilliant on advising us on where to get a Chinese meal in town about ten minutes walk. The room was spacious, bathroom very clean and a lovely shower, but the bed was a real let down, the mattress was not good and when I did go to sleep every time I moved I could feel another spring. The breakfast was okay - plenty of cereals on offer, bacon which had white salty covering on it but with plenty of toast available we did,nt go hungry. Overall for 45pounds for two people I still think it was a bargain

Room Tip: Room 289, forget it

Thank you for your kind review and I'm glad you had a good stay. I am pleased that your contact with our reception team was memorable and I have passed your review on to them. I am also pleased that you enjoyed your Chinese meal.

Olive Tree restaurant is also available at the neighbouring Holiday Inn for those who don't wish to walk far or take the car out.

Your comment concerning the mattress in 289 has been duly noted and investigated.

I hope you will come back and stay with us again.

We have corresponded directly with this guest to personally apologise for the inconvenience caused by the fire alarm going off in the night earlier in the year. Our building does have a sophisticated alarm system and we would always evacuate and investigate any triggers of the alarm, for the safety and security of our guests and staff.

Readers might like to be aware that Telford is currently undergoing a regeneration with a £250m redevelopment of the Southwater area of the town centre. Work starts later this year to bring a new cinema, bars and restaurants to the area as well as a refurb of the existing ice rink facilities – all of which are just a short walk from the hotel.

We hope you will come back and stay with us again in the future.

This hotel was comfortable, staff friendly and welcoming . Room surprisingly spacious with a nice , comfortable bed. Breakfast included in the price and was excellent with a good choice of foods. My only criticism is no free wi-fi, which I got when staying at the cheaper Days Inn hotel on my previous visit to Telford

Room Tip: Ground floor reooms give very easy access to the dining area for breakfast

Chose the Hotel due to its location, free parking and very good reviews and stayed two nights. After a late afternoon evening check in, went to walk into Telford and thus followed the "International" signage for "Town Centre" at the top of the flight of steps from the car park adjacent to the Hotel. This led through the large International Centre's car park to what turned out to have fully secured exit gates, thus had to turn round and walk back. Went to Reception and asked how I went wrong and was told "the signage is misleading" and the route is only available when the Centre is open. The hotel is very clean and whilst the room is spacious - had to move the heavy sofa bed a few centimetres to get the wardrobe doors to open fully. Can laugh now but it was not funny when the toilet roll holder and toilet roll fell off the wall and rolled across the spacious shower room. Slept well. Breakfast was acceptable with plenty of choice. On returning to the Hotel after a long day in the beautiful "Ironbridge Gorge", found both room keys did not work it transpires they had only been authorised for one night. I would recommend the hotel to those for a business trip or a quiet getaway.

Thank you for your review and I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you when you were unable to walk through the International Centre. Your comments have been duly noted.

I was sorry also to read about the issues you experienced in the room with having to slightly move the bed, the toilet roll holder and that your keys had to be re-cut. I can appreciate that all these things together conspired to make your stay not all that it could have been and I would like to apologise on behalf of the hotel and its team.

I do hope that you will come back and stay with us on a future occasion.

I stayed at the International last week as I had a business meeting in the area and I was pleasantly surprised with both the service (as others have said staff are excellent) but also the extended amenities thanks to their link with the Holiday Inn. I arrived in the evening time (starving!) and ate in the Holiday Inn restaurant but still had the convenience of signing to my room in the International. Next morning I used the pool and gym (again next door!) Super idea to have the extra options available. Parking was easy and the rooms were perfect. I would definitely recommend!

Many thanks for taking time to review your stay with us and I'm pleased that you were truly able to appreciate the set-up we have here as part of Southwater Event Group. Guests staying at the International Hotel are able to use the lovely Olive Tree Restaurant and Revive Leisure Club at the neighbouring Holiday Inn Telford which is part of our Group. Separate charges apply and it is subject to availability, but as you found out, you are able to sign back to your room (procedures apply) which makes it very simple for you. Look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
