“Excellent! Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2014 NEW

Had a wonderful dining experience with my family. Longhorn steak, ostrich steak, bannoffi pie, chocolate brownie. All superb.

Service and staff excellent, all smiles and politeness. They did not mind us being half and hour late for our booking due to traffic on the M6 as we were travelling from Essex.

Steaks served on a hot stone to cook as you talk! incredibly juicy and delicious.

“Not for me I like my meal cooked for me.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2014

I was passing by last Friday and thought we would call in for a meal, we were warmly welcome and shown to our table all very nice. We ordered drinks and given the menus and it was explained that there speciality was hot stone steaks where you are served your meat on a hot stone and cooked it to your liking ,so we decided to give it a go (having tried this in Spain some years ago where the stone is in the centre of the table) .The starter of scallops was O.K. but the bed of pee puree was very like mushy peas. The steaks arrived and the hot stone was on the plate with salad (out of a bag) and chips leaving no room to cut your meat ,it was all a bit of a faf and not cheap at £20 each main course. I found the service good pleasant nice people but it is expensive pub grub not at it,s best.

hi,, im surprised you chose the black rock ,being as you had had it previously in Spain, as if you don't like cooking your meal yourself, its the same here !!!! you could have chosen a range of items that is not on the rock,, ie all our home-made currys, stuffed chicken,, our unique sausages,, home made pies and many many more,, yes we are known for the black rock and our home made coleslaw, which is not out of a bag, and our fantastic desserts,, so im sorry you were disappointed,, but we can not be blamed for your choice,

“Forget the desserts or the starters”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2014

We visited the Grove for the 1st time yesterday, and we will be back, we went as a party of 6 with 2 of us having a starter which was ok, but then the main event, the main was brought out on a hot rock so you cook the meat to your liking on the rock- superb I cannot speak more highly of the food and also the service. We also all had a dessert but after the main we were just over facing ourselves and it was a bit stodgy which is why the 4 stars as opposed to a 5. See you soon and we'll done.

“Sunday lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2014

Cost,£11.95 for a roast share platter. (Each)
The meat was very thinly sliced(so it wasn't from a roast joint!).
The Yorkshire puddings were aunt Bessie's,their excuse we don't have time to make our own.
Need I say more!.
PS well presented,hot,cheerfull helpful staff.
