Had made a reservation at this hotel. On the evening we were due to arrive, I rang to tell them of our arrival time. I was then told that they had been trying to contact me for two days. I had given them a phone number which was a business no. so would definitely have been able to get through. I was told that there had been a problem with burst pipes and that they had been down six rooms as a result. We were travelling from Ireland so I was really annoyed. I asked what I was supposed to do, so he advised trying another hotel, nearby. He said he did not have the 'phone no. to hand but that I could ring enquiries. I was just about to board a train and did not have time to look for the 'phone no. I was disgusted. I thought that he could have made a provisional booking for us or contacted us. Fortunately, on arrival in Derby, I found accommodation at a nearby hotel. Our arrival time was approx. 9.30 p.m. so I was worried that I would have a problem, expecially as I had a young child with me. I think it was very inconsiderate of the hotel manager not to have found alternative accommodation for us. I most definitely would never again make a reservation with them.
