“A lucky find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We needed somewhere to stay in Derby with our son and came across Thornhill Lodge. We could not have done better. The rooms were well appointed with lovely little touching like homemade rock cakes on arrival and jams at breakfast (damson really wonderful). A very comfortable night for both us and him.
We will be back and would recommend Thornhill Lodge to all.

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the damson jam which was made with fruit from our garden.

We stayed one night at Thornhill Lodge and so glad we did. The room was very large compared to the usual hotel room and very nicely decorated. They had a lot of entertainment available and were very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic as it was cooked to your request. All in all a great stay and a fantastic B&B. If you are in the area - I highly recommend it!

We stayed for four nights and enjoyed our stay. The owners are very pleasant and helpful without being intrusive. The room and bathroom were very bright and clean. The beds were good and we slept well. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was clean and bright. The guest house is located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood and is about a 15 - 20 minute walk into town. It is also close to a bus route. There is a restaurant/pub a short walk away. It is obvious the owners put a lot of care and attention into making sure their guests enjoy their stay

Good location for my purposes at local hospital. Off street parking. Comfortable and clean room. Good breakfast choices. Only tiny niggle was a weak shower with a blocked shower head. Otherwise all good!

We stayed two nights here and were delighted. It was comfortable, clean and friendly. Nice room with lots of attention to detail and the owners are very helpful. The kitchen for guests is a great bonus which we found very useful and the breakfast well presented and delicious. The owners are very accommodating. We had our grown up sons ariving and leaving to stay here at different times to fit in with their work commitments and the owners were very helpful about this. Highly recommended and we would stay there again if we are in Derby.

Thornhill Lodge is extremely comfortable with a cosy feel to it. The room we stayed in was huge, with a lovely king size bed, large flat screen TV and DVD player and an en suite with toiletries, fluffy bath robes and constant warm towels from the heated radiator which always seemed to be on. There was an interesting selection of DVD's and books and while we didn't use the guest kitchen, we could see what a good idea it was. Breakfast was excellent, with the "Hearty Derbyshire" being our favourite. Thornhill Lodge is situated just a mile outside the City centre in a very quiet residential area and if we venture to this part of the world again we would definately return. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at the Thornhill Lodge for a couple of nights (30th and 31st March 2012) and had a lovely time. The room was very large, with a huge TV and DVD player (together with a large selection of DVDs to watch if you had time), which was perfect for us. The fresh fruit provided was lovely (the grapes were delicious!) and the guest kitchen was a real boon if you are in a hurry and want to cook your dinner before going out. Having fresh milk available for making tea in the room was wonderful too :-)

The location is really quiet and we would thoroughly recommend this guest house.
