“Best stay in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

The premier inn is great. I stay for business and the obvious choice is the Holiday Inn but the Premier Inn is better. The Wheatstone inn next to the premier inn is better to eat at. At the holiday inn the Internet costs £16 per day whereas the Holiday inn costs £10 for a week!

Stayed for three nights and had an excellent stay. Very quiet weekend (maybe due to the snow) but had nice room and the food next door was superb. This is in a great location for touring Gloucester and the Forest of Dean.

Spent 2 nights here on business. Very clean and ideal location for motorway and business parks. Friendly and efficient check in. Room fine if a little chilly for my liking but it was minus figure weather outside! Great eve meals in pub next door. Great service too. Hot breakfast buffet was poor though. When i was dining at half eight on the first day the bacon and sausage although cooked was stone cold, not even warm. I had last fried egg in pan and barely warm. Tomatoes were empty but looked tinned from what remnants remained. Beans luke warm. Hash brown ok. Hardly a premier breakfast. Perhaps training is needed from the breakfast chef at the doncaster inn. Stayed there recently and he came out to greet diners and was constantly making sure adequate supply and that it was hot. Suffice to say i didnt bother with breakfast on the second day. All round though stay was fine.

We regulary stay at Premier Inns and were delighted, at last, to have found the £29.00 room ! Upon arrival, everything was up to the usual high standard - with an excellent dinner in the adjoining hostelry. However, late night revellers woke us at about 1.00am and continued above us and next to us until nearly 4.30. We phoned reception twice to complain but got little help from the night manager. We presume that this is a regular friday night spot for guests who have been to the Gloucester night life. Never coming here again. Be warned. If you pay £29, you get £29 worth !

We stayed for one night in order to catch up with family who we wont see in the holidays. It was a good Premier Inn experience, consistent with what have come to expect - nothing fancy but clean and comfy and good value with kids. The restaurant on site is nicer than some which adjoin Premier Inns. The staff were helpful e.g. happily providing a corkscrew and extra glasses on request. Out of the way location so wouldn't contemplate it for a longer stay but ideal for what we needed.

This was an overnight stay to break the journey on the way home and we chose this hotel because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor but we did wonder if it was going to be noisy being just off the ring road. Although the ring road is busy we had little impact from road traffic noise at peak times or you can leave the double glazed window closed and it is quiet. Well lit car park with ample free parking.

Welcome on arrival was very good and we found the staff helpful and accommodating.

Our room was a standard double and was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed, writing desk and two chairs. Standard television with Freeview and 30 minutes free Wi-Fi available. Tea and coffee making facilities.

Our en-suite facilities were very clean and included a low level bath with a good shower over and ample hot water. Good quality towels.

We paid £39 per night for the room by booking in advance. There was a pub next door serving food all day but we didn't try it.

On the same site as the Premier Inn is a ten pin bowling alley with lots of facilities for children of all ages and a gymnasium. Within 10 minutes walk is a large Sainsbury's supermarket although you have to cross some busy roads. If you want to drive to the supermarket it means going up the dual carriageway and coming back down but this is a disadvantage of being on the ring road.

Another good Premier Inn and we would happily return, plus if you have kids there is the ten pin bowling alley to keep them amused.
