I go here regularly because it is fairly quiet, the beer is good ( IMHO) and there are lots of little rooms with comfortable seats in. Ideal for a semi-private occasion with friends! It is the restored house of Robert Raikes (founder of the Sunday School movement) and still retains a house like feel. The toilets (on the 3rd floor!) are the best I've ever seen in a pub (well the gents are - I'm told the ladies are equally smart).
There is a large outside courtyard for the smokers or for the sun (if there is any). It's a basic paved but OK in summer.
No idea about the food: as far as I'm concerned it is a rather smart pub.
