“Fantastic Accommodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

This is a great place. Hosts attentive and informative but not intrusive. Loft room was lovely, airy and bright, with everything we needed on hand. Full English breakfast was spectacular and beautifully arranged, served in a light-filled room. Top value.

Room Tip: All rooms are good here. Check out the Queens' Head pub nearby.

Wonderful breakfast. Wonderful location. Wonderful very very special and original gardens, free to guests. Wonderful and Intellectually talented hosts.

Far superior to hotel accommodation in Harrogate.
Could not agree more that it really is a special place to be.
Visiting for many years.
Geoff Groves.

My husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at Cold Cotes. It's the best B&B we have ever visited - in fact it's far superior to some hotels we've stayed in, paying twice the price. We had a very warm welcome, being instantly served with tea and home made cakes from the tea room on site. Our room was very spacious, and we were unable to think of one other thing we could have wanted during the weekend - there was a superking bed, a 32" TV, DVD player, radio with iPod dock, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, a bathroom with walk in shower and a bath, fresh fruit and a good selection of tea and other hot drinks, a fridge with mineral water in it, wine glasses and a corkscrew. In the main house there was a huge selection of books and DVDs to choose from, and a very comfortable lounge. The list goes on...
Everything had been thought of. We were so comfortable we didn't want to leave, and we made another booking before we left. Joanne and Ed were friendly, thoughtful and kind; nothing was too much trouble. The gardens were extensive and very beautiful. The 3-course breakfast was wonderful; freshly cooked to order. We can't wait for our next visit!

Room Tip: There are some ground floor rooms for those with mobility problems. We stayed in room 6 - in the ann...

We had a very enjoyable stay of 6 nights in June 2013. Our room was in a separate annexe which was very comfortable and to an excellent standard - Breakfasts and meals in the cafe were all prepared and cooked to a high standard. The beautiful gardens were accessible to guests at any time during their stay.
All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful should the need arise. Can thoroughly recommend a stay @ Cold Cotes - you will not be disappointed.

Sorry about the pun! Booking fairly last minute, Cold Cotes was able to let me have the last room available which was the 3-roomed suite in the main house. This has a lounge, bathroom and enormous bedroom all overlooking the gardens. If you are looking for stylish, relaxing, friendly, very high-standard accommodation look no further than Cold Cotes. It's a magic place.

It is mainly B&B but if you book earlier in the day you can have a light supper delivered to your room. You may watch the birds at the feeders below your window, read either your own books or select from the collection downstairs, gaze out over the magnificent garden, watch TV, or play music (pick your choice from reception). Each room has a small fridge for chilled Harrogate water, fresh milk for your hot drinks in a real jug (no 'plastic' milk here) plus a bowl of fruit with side plate, knife and napkin.

You let the owners know when you would like breakfast. This is in the main room at the back of the house and overlooks the garden. Breakfast is an outstanding experience. Order the melon and see what appears on your plate ... such imagination.

Room Tip: If you are 'walking wounded' request a ground floor room across from the main house where th...

Visited the garden and tea rooms today on atrip to Harrogate. Lovely building or the tea rooms, excellent value and good section of teas and home add cakes.
The gardens whilst at one point in time had been well planned felt a little unloved and were a little to unstructured for our taste.

We enjoyed our stay here very much indeed. The room was in a separate annexe which was nice for us as we were at the end of our trip and had stayed in many B & B's, so it was restful to have our own area. The room was large, clean, modern, with a very comfortable bed and a great wet room. All the towels, linens and toiletries were very high quality. Breakfasts were delicious, local organic produce served in the long dining room in the main house. Ed was the most charming host and is a lovely talented man. (Ask to see his paintings). The location was perfect for us, a lovely quiet country setting yet a short drive from Harrogate and great restaurants, pubs, walks and National Trust properties. It is only about 10 minutes from Brimham Rocks and a short drive to Fountains Abbey. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly be back if we are ever in the area again. It was great value for money too. Thank you Ed!
